I have an older version of this saw that is over 10 years old. I have built a deck with it. I mostly use it for cutting up plywood and paneling. I use a good blade, and battery life has never been an issue. Everybody uses their tools differently, so your battery life could vary. Also notice some circ saws have thicker base plates. Thick base plates work better when you clamp a fence to the workpiece because the thin base plates tend to slide under the fence. My saw has a thin base plate, and my fix for that was to attach a 1/2 x 1/2" aluminum angle bar to the edge. Home Depot has a great deal on blades, 2 for $12.88.

Not bad but glad I scored the DeWalt 2 battery and free tool deal yesterday . Got the circular saw which is better than this one when comparing Max RPMs.

I think he bought the Dewalt set for $97. It looks like a nice unit with a thicker base plate. It came with two 2 amp battery's that have a 3 year warranty. I'm not convinced that the faster RPM is a plus. That was a good deal, especially if you are in the Dewalt eco system. This Ridgid saw deal has one larger 4 amp battery with a lifetime replacement warranty. This is a good deal if you are in the Ridgid eco system, or if you like to have your battery's replaced for free.
