I've heard from rust belt mechanics that it causes more harm than good

I use this with great success for waterproofing outdoor low voltage landscape wiring connections.

I would not use this under the body of your vehicle. If you're looking into some underbody rust prevention, I would suggest something like Fluid Film.

Correct, it might trap moisture between the metal and the rubber which speed up the rusting. But this is a good deal. Buying 2 for DIY projects.

Based on the og post, it seems priming the bare metal first before using this is how it achieves protection. I've never even heard of this stuff but wondering if mechanics are seeing it used as the only cost without a primer vs proper use.

I use fluid film. I do not live in the rust belt. If you use this stuff, clean and prep the area first. Clean up rust, prime, hit with this.

If your car is new, no rust, putting this on would be okay.

If you are serious, use something with rust inhibitors in it:

I heard the trick was to make sure you prime first then spray the rubber application to the other side and it won't cause any further issues if you just spray it without priming then you're trapping moisture or taking a chance to

This crap lasts about 2 months on a surface before it dries and flakes off. That is the same for any of the spray undercoatings. In order to get it to spray out of a nozzle, it is thin and aerated to the point where all you have is a porous coating. Its only use is to cover the rust on a car while you try to sell it. If it were free, I would not use it.

Got a gallon of this stuff just waiting for my new truck to come in to use it on. Read/seen a lot of great things about FF, can't wait to try it!

Please tell me you're joking. The first comment was a good joke. Your comment is plainly false. Any 'moisture' under this application, would not do anything being so miniscule.
