It's $10 thru my cable provider. It was $5 at one point last year. No ads 😂

So does that mean you can only watch content via VPN and not on TV/streaming Box?

Good if you like superhero trash. Very few good new content. Had it for $7.50 a month - cancelled after 2.

Did you need to use a specific payment card?

Just to note for those that have AT&T fiber for ISP that the gigabit plan includes HBO Max for free. I have no idea if this is targeted by area but can confirm that this is offered in the downtown Fort Worth, TX area. I also think this will likely go away once AT&T divests the abominations known as DirecTV and WarnerMedia.
Cricket wireless also gives out HBO max for free

Not only do we have cable bit we also have Netflix, Hulu, Apple+, Prime video, Discovery+, paramount+, Peacock, Showtime anytime and HBOMax.

HBOMax easily had the best new content and a good amount of it. I watch HBOMax about as much as I watch all the others combined. There is a ton of non superhero stuff on there. Not sure how you made this statement

Agree there is a lot of good content.

Maybe not enough for an entire year, but try it for a month.

I have HBOMax without ads. Content is good, esp since they brought in all the DC stuff when its streaming service went down.

I did the 1 year plan and canceled Netflix. Next year I will look to see what others have and then switch again.

No reason to have a lot of streaming services. You can go back and watch older content anytime. Its not like live TV if you miss it you can't see it.
So sign up for a couple, watch till your board with what they have, cancel, and then sign up for another. Rinse/repeat as needed.
Yeah but Doom Patrol, Titans, & Stargirl were in 4k UHD when that DC streaming service got shut down.

For me ad free has not been worth it. Dune was great but really needed to watch on the big screen.

New Matrix was crap. Would have chosen with ads if I could go back in time.

Succession is great. Am enjoying one or two others as well, but there so much content around on other platforms that you could binge HBO in a month and not miss out on much.

The main issue with HBOMAX is not content. It's the lack of 4k HDR content. Some shows were 4k HDR on other services and then moved to HBOMAX in regular HD. There is no excuse for that for the price HBOMAX costs. It's main competitors are mostly in 4k HDR. It's pathetic.

Also, another plug for Raised by Wolves. None of the people whining "there is no content" watched it, I promise.

Didn't know that.

But I am not to picky for 4k vs non-4k as it seems most 4k is so compressed that sometimes the difference seems pretty small.

What do you gain by doing this? Different content? Also, does that mean the device you stream from also must use a VPN? Thank you

I didn't get this deal. I got it earlier. The "ad supported" version has limitations. I primarily got it to see John Oliver...and on the sub with ads, it did not work. As soon as I switched to the the higher tier, it played. I contacted support, they got back to me 2 weeks later.
