Lacking content definitely isn't an issue.

No you didn't. You just came here to bag on Matrix which has zero to do with HBO Max.

It should be this price regularly, as the service (from my experience) is frequently down or takes multiple tries to log into. It definitely is no Netflix in terms of availability.
I have never had an issue logging in.

I like it too. Implausible, but interesting.

I did think it'd ended after the third episode though. I was surprised to see more episodes pop up later.

So if folks aren't sure about it, lets just say that there's an easy exit point after episode 3?laugh out loud

What do you gain by doing this? Different content? Also, does that mean the device you stream from also must use a VPN? Thank you
Some streaming services are ridiculously cheap or bundled together for next to nothing, in south america. But you have to be located in country to get that. A vpn makes you look like you do. Unless the app on your streaming service does a location lock on where its running from.

I did notice in one of the major streaming service on its android tv app, had an unfilled slot for latitude and longitude. Which to be honest, I wasn't that thrilled with. Talk about an easy way for someone with access to the account to find someone who doesn't want to be found, because they streamed a tv show.

Some services also show different content in other countries when there is some legal arrangement about distribution, so some films and shows may be available in other countries and not here, or not here until later.

It is for some. It really depends on what you are looking for and what you expect.

Depending on how long you've already had it, you may have already seen everything you care to watch. I'd say if you didn't have it, then there's a huge catalog.

New original releases last year were pretty nice. (whether you enjoyed Matrix or not, you probably were looking forward to it) (Mortal Kombat, Suicide Squad, Matrix...) I think the next big one is Batman.

If you have had it for a few months, it kinda makes sense to cancel it until Batman is released. Save the $15-$30 and get back on in March, keep it for a month or 2 and then cancel it again.

TLDR: Plenty of content if you get it for a few months at a time. And really, that's the SD way.

It would surprise me if they release The Batman on HBO Max since Spider-Man is killing it at the box office. I'd personally consider seeing The Batman in theaters if it isn't released on HBO Max.

Can anyone comment on the ad-based subscription? How bad/annoying are the ads when watching a movie or TV series?

You may be right, but if that's the case, then these sale prices may become more permanent as a lot of people will be leaving or downgrade otherwise, that had gotten used to this benefit. (also, its only available in the ad free tier)

I prefer theater for most movies. I believe Batman is going to be 3 hours, which may be where I would rather stay at home.

I wish this had live content. Happy with Directv Stream go big but they are increasing prices again.

Been reading some commentary on this. It's apparently handled pretty much the best of any paid service with ads. HBO originals don't have ads during them at all. The total percentage runtime of stuff with ads is lower than even totally free services with ads like Tubi. Fewer interruptions during shows that have them. They're still ads, but less annoying than most services for sure.

I don't have the attention span to watch a three-hour movie at home, whereas at the theater I welcome the longer running time. There's only so long that it's beneficial to Warner Brothers to keep putting first-run blockbuster movies on HBO Max.

I think that pretty much every online cable company is constantly doing that.

They all keep increasing prices while adding channels we really don't care about, defeating the purpose of cutting cable. SlingTV seems to be the best at holding it's value.

My recommendation is to get SlingTV and then add a couple of streaming services on the side. Hulu/Netflix/HBO for 1-2 months. Hulu/Netflix/Peacock next month..Hulu/Netflix/Disney+ for a few months ... Hulu is just like a couple dollars a month for most of us. This brings your overall cost way down and you really have a lot more control..
