This inspiron 3060 is starved and throttles HARDCORE, some of the worst thermals in class. Below Lenovo and HP, just be weary of that.

During NBC's stress test the CPU allocation was starving and it was running at or below 1GHZ. GPU at around 50 watts.

I have the RTX 3050 model. It's well-made and the screen is beautifully contrasted, if a little dim at just under 300 nits. Quite powerful and the speakers are I would say above average for a laptop (worse than an Asus G14, way better than an LG Gram). But the touchpad after being finicky for weeks has just stopped working altogether. I'm actually chatting with Dell support right now. Other users have mentioned a problem with the touchpad, but Dell wants to label it a software issue. Hopefully they either send me a replacement or get this one fixed quickly.

Looks like this Touchpad issue is widespread across their higher tier models, including XPS series. This started from last year and Dell should really pay some attention to these kind of quality control issues to their higher tier laptops1 instead of trying to downplay it.

I'm looking for a creators laptop to edit video with a dGPU but I hate high temp/ noises where I can check that? I'd prefer a 3050 if quiet

Thanks I was going to ask how thermals were for these specs… Shoot Alienware has to have beast mode cooling for stuff like this and an Inspiron is trying to play ball?

Next.

Most softwares are not even capable of working on screens higher than 1080p

I can comment on some of the comments:
- Thermals
yes, this is not a gaming machine but it's quiet in general. I also tested a Legion Pro and GB Aero and this one is by far the quietest. Don't get this as a gaming machine, it isn't marketed as such. This is for those who want a powerful laptop with a decent GPU. GPU works great for VR or creative purposes.
- Touchpad works fine for me, but there are a ton of report issues. Hit or miss.
- 3K screen is great, I am using 150% magnification. Razor sharp. Brightness is okay but haven't used it outside yet.
- Overall, this is a very nice laptop and I highly recommend it.

Note: I have the 16gb version, same other specs that I bought a month ago for $1,250 but then with $325 in Amex Dell offers so $925 in total. Still a good deal at the lister price but check Amex if you have it.

Depends on how thick/heavy you're ok with. Gigabyte's Aero OLED series is pretty good, as is the Asus Zephyrus G14. Legion 5 Pro has good thermals as well, just make sure you get a good screen option.

I had the GB Aero and although the screen is awesome, the unit is loud.

The Dell is quiet.

This isn't a gaming laptop. It's a creator laptop for someone that might occasionally game.

PS it's available for $1080 in the outlet promo code 481110Ins but only 16gb

My experience with Dell support has been outstanding. They have been pretty responsive and they never failed to meet and exceed the expectations.

I have Dell professionally and personally and in past used Mac Professionally. I would never get Mac over Dell. I liked Lenovo ThinkPad before but Dell support has changed my attitude towards the PCs.
