A decent price for this product. However, Seachem Safe - while more expensive initially - treats a hell of a lot more water. It's tremendously more cost efficient than any other aquarium water conditioner, especially if you get it on sale. This 16 oz bottle of Amquel officially treats 960 gallons. Not a bad price for around a year of water changes for most people.

If you've got big tanks, or a lot of tanks, you're better off with Safe. An 8oz bottle of Safe may cost $15 on Amazon right now, but it's more often around $10-11, and occasionally as low as $7. But it treats 12,000 gallons. No, that's not a typo. One bottle will last practically forever, unless you're running a fish store!

Either way, thumbs up for a good aquarium deal, lower than it's seemingly ever been on on Amazon, according to the camels.

Kordon AmQuel Plus is much, much more user friendly. You just add 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons. The 1 gallon treats 7,680 gallons for $13.94. More than 99% of users will ever use lol.

Seachem Safe is so concentrated it's easier to use if you run a fish store or aquarium. You add 1/120th of a teaspoon per 10gal as a water conditioner OR 1/30th of a teaspoon for Ammonia. It also says you can use up to 4 times the dose for nitrate/nitrite. It's just not user friendly at all for the average home aquarist.

How does one use this? Periodically or after each water change?

in a healthy tank... with each water change.
if the tank is unhealthy and experiencing an ammonia spike, this will neutralize the ammonia until it can be processed by the filtration system. hopefully.
