Very neutral/non-opinionated sound profile. I like them for near-field stereo/music, while they certainly could be used in a home entertainment setup, I don't feel like that's where they "shine." There's a reason people use these at their PCs/stereo turntable, that's where they're their best.
This is the lowest they've been since they were last at $300. Good deal. I use this in the bedroom, great speakers in that setup but they can't work in a larger room.
Wondering why this speaker is rated to go lower (51 hz) than the more expensive model up Q350 (62 hz). A plus for this speaker at this price, I'd think. Some reviews say the build quality isn't so great, though.
Got these 2 years ago for home theater. I use a single for center channel in a 5.1 with a PB2000 subwoofer. They are spectacular. You can really hear the difference when movie soundtracks are mastered well or not. Rain and glass breaking with the right soundtrack gives me goosebumps every time.

clarity. I use the Kef for all 5 speakers.

Really? I feel like these are too large for my desktop/nearfield. Been really tempted but looking at stuff that's got a smaller footprint.

It is definitely a trade-off. I feel like the larger size allows them to be richer at lower volumes (which is important for near-field, unless you want to get blasted), so you never have that tinny sound you often associate with PC speakers.
These speakers just "get out of your way." What you feed into them is what you get it, no matter how quiet or loud. Is it worth the desk space? That's a personal call, I could make it work.
They're great speakers. I really liked them. Neutral with very minimal coloration. I only returned them cos I got the B&W 606 s2 for 499.
Quick update on this. I decided to return the B&W instead. Too bright for me and the placement recommended is not possible for me. Keeping the white q150s. They are excellent.
