My local panda express never got rid of the family meal so this isn't a deal. Comment above makes it nicer, though.

I played the "first level" of the game for the first coupon. The game dialogue prompts are broken in Firefox, but it might just be me as I am using adblock. The frame rate was also really bad. I found playing the game in Microsoft Edge allowed me to experience the game as what I would imagine is intended.

The coupons are not ip-specific, meaning you can play the game as much as you want to gather as many coupons as you want. Here is a spare code I collected:

After playing through the whole thing, I'm not sure what the score system is about. If you keep dying over and over, you will get negative points. If you collect food, you get positive points. I'm still experimenting to see what happens if you complete a level with negative points. Will edit later.

Ok so nothing changes if you have a negative score on level completion. You never get game over. There is absolutely zero punishment for playing the game poorly. Just make sure you jump the obstacles and get to the end of the levels and you are guaranteed your coupons and game completion. In fact, I wouldn't even try to collect the items. Just focus on staying alive. lol

Here's another $3 off family meal coupon:

Family meal is a major rip-off. Well, at least the take-out version. Portions were enough for 2 people, and even then only if they're not super hungry. For $29, you'd get twice as much food ordering four of their 2-item combo meals instead.

Here comes the food snob! Nobody is saying it's better than good restaurant food. We are saying it's fast, easy and a decent, reliable deal.
I'm not a food snob, but spending $30 at a chain Chinese restaurant seems absurd to me when I can buy food at a local Chinese restaurant for the same price and it's better

You guys must live in some pretty boring places to consider chain restaurant Chinese food a good meal.
I wouldn't call it boring. That's kind of insulting. But I will grant you that it is a sad state of affairs.

We've got great hiking trails, beautiful rivers, incredible wild life, great skiing, endless lakes, and an up-and-coming restaurant scene. But our Chinese food here is nowhere near what it should be. Panda and PF Chang's will have to suffice until then.

Servings are crap. They changed their containers 2 years ago, and it's only the same amount if they fill it up all the way. They never do, so you end up with roughly half what those pictures show.

I live in a rural area with American Chinese restaurants. Panda is actually better than those places

Correct me if I'm wrong but this was $20 a year ago?
I just tried some of the Panda Express I had from last year, and I have to say, it hasn't held up very well.

Hard to believe some of the posts here. We got this a few days ago for lunch and fed 8 people (2 adults, 4 teenagers, 2 smaller children). Everyone had seconds and there was still 1 small container of leftovers. We were expecting a very light lunch and ended up being surprised at how full we all were. We paid $29, didn't know about the $3 coupon.
Same here. I bought the family meal as part of the Paypal promotion, and there was so much food leftover. The employee had filled the containers to the brim and somehow managed to seal them compact. The people complaining about there not being enough food must be absolute units to still be hungry after all that.

I find that it varies a lot, even in the city. I like visiting each one in my area because each chef does things differently. I have some locations nearby that good the fried rice too dry, one that cuts boneless spare ribs thick and only uses lean meat, one place that has the best sticky chicken wings, and one that doesnt understand the difference between eggrolls and spring rolls. It's honestly a lot of fun to experiment and settle on a place.

My local Panda Express is the only one in the state and the chef is always the same tall guy and attendant the same woman, so I have never needed to expect less. They make the food well and fill containers to the brim. Never hesitate to give your restaurants good ratings when they're great!

Your only options are
  • spring rolls (Cabbage, celery, carrots, green onions and Chinese noodles in a crispy wonton wrapper. Note: At some locations, celery may be substituted with green beans, mushrooms, onions and tofu bean curd (or vegetable protein).),
  • Chow Mein (Stir-fried wheat noodles with onions, celery and cabbage),
  • "super greens" (broccoli, cabbage, carrots, zucchini, and string beans),
  • and white rice.

This is certainly not a vegetarian restaurant.

quick add, I googled vegan options for panda express and it appears some locations have "eggplant tofu" (Lightly browned tofu, eggplant, and red bell peppers are stir-fried in a sweet and spicy sauce.). Some also had a "beyond Orange Chicken" in 2020 which was a limited time promotion that I assume nobody liked. I've never seen my local panda express joints have those two, between both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, so I assume Southern New England just doesn't have many vegans.

I guess my point was that at the prior price point (a bit less than 2 years ago) my household probably got it 3 or 4 times before my family got sick of it. Portion sizing was inconsistent, but for $20 it was a very good deal. At $29 (or $26) it is still alright, but not good enough for me to want to run out and buy it. There is other stuff in my area that I either like better or offers better value at the moment.

The difference is the portion. Maybe you live somewhere that's so low cost of living that you can get the same portion for the same money at a restaurant. If so, I'd do that, too. Not in CA.
