I'm pretty sure that device can be swapped once activated and the plan itself costs around $40 on sale. I have similar set up for my kid as emergency while he's in school. Doesn't spoil them with unlimited data and not fancy enough to play games or show off so he can stay focused on learning lol.
I am always new to HSN!
I activated the Samsung A11 yesterday as a new Tracfone account. Upon activation they sent the following text, which states 60 days:
Hi there, a quick update from Tracfone.
We have an updated unlocking policy. You can check it here http://tf-w.co/NZyp2bR

If you have Gmail you can get google voice and free phone number. Say your area code is 603. Get a Google voice number with this area code. If one is not available today, then keep checking.
Do a search for Google voice, and you will automatically have a GV account if you use the same browser as you Gmail is on. I would do this on a legitimate computer.

Once you get set up with your GV phone number.... Install GV on your phone. I think you need to have Android 8 and above. GV will use your home Wi-Fi or your phone's data plan to connect you via the internet.
This way you can save on your TracFone minutes.

On my phone I have GV installed and use it all the time. I use its real cell phone number too.

When I've purchased Tracfones through HSN, there's never been anything that mentions the phone must be activated within X amount of time.
Verizon (and Tracfone) legally has to honor the terms of the phones sold by Tracfone.

But given Tracfone's (and Verizon's) horrid customer service, trying to get them to honor their terms if you wait too long to activate the phone ... is close to a waste of time (your time is more valuable than the phone is worth). You could try disputing the charge with your credit card company, but that protection is only for a couple of months (and doesn't work with other forms of payment, like debit cards or paypal, etc.). Some credit cards have warranty benefits that might cover this.

For the last 5 or so years, I've always waited for cheap deals and had on hand usually 2 extra phones that cover me for the next year, in case I can't find cheap deals like the one in the OP when I need more minutes (I use around 2500-3000 minutes annually). It's possible some day I won't be able to activate a phone, but it hasn't happened yet.
Agree, I'm just wondering with all the TF/TW sales lately if VZ isn't clearing out inventory and cheap bundles will no longer be offered. Waiting past 30 days is a crap shoot because HSN only gives 30 day guarantee and TF will just tell you to deal with HSN so if any issues it needs to be a chargeback, which takes time.

Long time users like we are need to reframe the way we think about TF until some time has passed and we know how VZ is going to change things (you know they will). New unlock policy looks like a good start, hopefully it continues. I'm just trying to be careful to tell others that there's no guarantee things will work the same way they used to under the old TF, don't want people to be disappointed.

No you can use it as a wifi device, but it comes with a year of service so why not activate it?

Just curious how you transfer minutes and time left from an older moto e6 tracfone that had a one year deal such as this and now has about five months and minutes and texts left on it.

Thanks!

It's simple, most of us upgrade all the time. Get new phone, go to website, choose activate a Tracfone, enter requested info, choose to keep current number, after a few minutes current balance and current number switches to new phone.

Or if you're not comfortable with that, call support and have them do it for you. It's probably time you upgraded Smilie
Hi,

So you are saying that the minutes, time, texts and data left on the old phone will be added to the 1500, one year time, and 1.5 gigs of this phone if I use the website? For instance, if my current tracfone has about 4 months left and 900 texts, 800 minutes and 1 gig of data I would end up with 16 months, 2400 texts, 2300 minutes and 2.5 gigs of data and the old phone number on the new phone after activation?

Thanks.

If I currently have a BYOD phone on Tracfone and want to extend it using this phone, will the following work?

Activate this Moto E phone by transferring my current service to it (keep the number).
Using the previous SIM in the BYOD phone and re-activate it and transfer the Moto E service back.
Can I do referral during this process?

Thanks.

Yes, many of us do it all the time. New plan will combine with whatever your current balance is and extend your time. Just choose keep my current number. I've got several phones paid up for several years because I've bought these cheap deals and moved plans to newer phones.

Okay, thanks. Do you always use the website or do you call in and have a customer service rep help you with the transfer of time minutes and data to the new phone?

That also works since old phone still shows as deactivated on account and you just need to reactivate it again - recommend waiting a few hours at least to make sure that balances are correct before switching back to old phone. Did same with mine last summer then gave phone away since my current phone was newer.
Rewards are for new lines with new number and take 60 days to get added to account so you'd have to wait 2 months to make any changes.

I've always used website but I'm a long time experienced user, others might prefer to just call or use chat.

This is posted above in #146 (review it, there's more info in that post) ... but ... you obviously didn't see it ....
Before transferring your number, start a chat and ask them to confirm the number of minutes, texts, and amount of data on your phone, plus the day your minutes expire. Then make sure to send a copy of the chat transcript to your email. If the transfer goes wrong, the chat transcript is the only thing Tracfone will accept as proof of your balances. (You'd think they would have that information in the system, but I've seen complaints from people saying Tracfone refused to replace the lost balances without a chat. A screenshot of your balances isn't enough.)

Does it require a different cc and email?
I myself have needed both last time I tried...

Just tried again for this deal and it same as last time when I give CC I've used before with them it gives

"We were unable to add this payment method. Please try again or contact Customer Service at 1-800-933-2887 to resolve."

I don't know how others are able to get it to work? I saw paypal suggested but don't see how I can apply the code once I click the 'paypal' as payment method it opens up popup to paypal and no place in paypal to enter code.

if I try to apply code before entering payment info it says you have to give payment method 1st so catch 22???
