Most homeowners use these so rarely you are better off just renting a good one from a hardware store. It will probably also end up being cheaper.

Reading more recent reviews. A lot of issues with the motor not working or welds not holding. I was thinking of taking gamble on this, but reviews have made me think twice.

I looked at this last year (for a bit more) and almost got it but just went for the Rigid K-400 for about $450(on sale), instead. After calling around for quotes I figured I'd go for one of the best entry-level Pro models since it'd pay for itself after 1-2 uses (am in Seattle).

That said, this could definitely be worthwhile at this price and given the overall body of reviews/ratings, if you're willing to take a little risk and/or don't have the funds for something else.

Truth be told, my plunger, 6' Rigid toilet auger, and 25' Ryobi snake handle just about all the crap I throw at it...or throw it at Wink

Standard plumbing visit to your house to deploy this is $250-$350. If you are an able person and prone to plugging your pipes, this is a good deal.

Also good for tree roots in the downspout lines. Only one place rents them locally and it's broken most of the time. I had similar (probably from the same factory in China) units in my eBay watchlist at around $200. At this price and from Amazon I ordered. Thanks OP!

Don't get this. This one doesn't seems to have auto feed. So it doesn't push the line forward/backward. You have to do it yourself, which is a tough job and not for everyone. If you have some Harbour freight coupon, they have one around $350.

You're talking about 2x or more this price. If you know how to use a snake, this is a good deal for light homeowner use. The one I paid $40 for 4 hours to rent from the hardware store was similar, and I had no trouble clearing all 50 feet of downspout lines clogged with tree roots.

We own one, no idea why though. It was my parents and seemed like a waste to throw it away when cleaning out their garage. Haven't used it once in 20 years. I think I agree, I would just rent one if you need one.

i agree. i got the harbor freight with auto feed like 5 years and its paid for it self many times over. i've used it at least once a year. i can only imagine if i had to feed it myself, no way! worth the extra money. figure the HF auto feed is $350, use it once and you've broke even, a second time and you've made your money back and more.
