Not sure what you were expecting from semi dry meat and cheese that requires no refrigeration.

Can't stress this enough. Don't buy these to eat. Only good for when you have to give a gift to someone you don't like that much.

For most mass-produced summer sausage, the skin is just packaging made out of collagen or plastic. You're supposed to peel it off.

The one I really like is the 10-pack stocking stuffer for $34.99. That's $3.50 per box for a summer sausage, a cheese, and a mustard. But it's obviously Christmas-themed and so either I'd have to eat all 10 boxes myself (yikes!) or find people who don't mind a Christmas present after Christmas (probably my extended family). Ha!

I bought one of the packs from a recent deal. Thought about buying some more but realized I hadn't tried what I already bought. The best by date on the meat and cheese from my Jan 4 order is May 22 of this year. I am glad I checked and decided to have a snack before ordering more. It is an ok summer sausage but the cheese is all processed garbage. IMO you are better off buying a better summer sausage and good cheese as you want it than buying this in bulk for this price.

Wow, when did bashing Hickory Farms become cool? I don't see anything special about this deal, but the comments saying it's bad food and you can do better (without any links BTW) are just sad. Give me a summer sausage and smoked cheese. Delicious!

I agree with the earlier comment about the cheese not melting well. In the clearance from a couple weeks ago I picked up the 3-pack of of Bacon Cheddar blocks. I went the route of shredding one up for grilled cheese sandwiches and it melts a bit gummy. Not all that impressed. For this price it's not terrible stuff but don't expect anything especially gourmet.

Don't do it! I bought a boatload of this stuff after last year's holiday clearance. I have to say that I had bought these for friends/relatives but never really tried any of it myself. I am now embarrased that I did after actually eating some of the items. We threw it all out as it was just simply disgusting. I think the honey turkey sausage was probably the absolute most vile thing I've ever eaten. It had a texture somewhere between a semi-soft extruded cheese or semi-ripe avacado. My experience may be unique but would have to assume if it was ever edible then there is a reason they clearance this stuff out as it must not have much of a shelf-life.
