Not sure what you were expecting from semi dry meat and cheese that requires no refrigeration.

Can't stress this enough. Don't buy these to eat. Only good for when you have to give a gift to someone you don't like that much.

For most mass-produced summer sausage, the skin is just packaging made out of collagen or plastic. You're supposed to peel it off.

The one I really like is the 10-pack stocking stuffer for $34.99. That's $3.50 per box for a summer sausage, a cheese, and a mustard. But it's obviously Christmas-themed and so either I'd have to eat all 10 boxes myself (yikes!) or find people who don't mind a Christmas present after Christmas (probably my extended family). Ha!

I've found that after a couple of each, it becomes a burden to finish the rest. I'll probably just give the rest away - not as gifts due to the Xmas theme - just sharing.

OP thanks for posting, but outside of last year, they use to be 90% off. They must not have had as much inventory or sold a lot more. I can remember 3 or 4 years ago, ordering $150 of stuff and getting several large boxes of sausages, cheeses, snacks etc, I mean big boxes with 5 or 6 different sub boxes in them. Peace

Is the 10 pack for $35 a good price, just for snacking and eating on the go and whatnot? It's tempting, as I like buying those snack sticks at Costco/Sam's, but I think I pay far more per pound than this deal, just looking at the meat weight.
Thoughts?

Whats the expiration on these? I'd be interested in picking some up as a basic survival ration stock.

The cheapest per pound if you are only looking at the sausage is the 10x pack for 34.99. That still comes out to be around $11ish/lbs if you ignore the cheese and sauce. Still kind of expensive, but I guess it is sort of dry so maybe equates to high weight if comparing to fresh beef directly. I don't buy sausages enough to know if $11ish/lbs is a good deal or not.

that's how i was looking at it too, price per meat pound. i know johnsville beef summer sausage is 8 dollars for 20oz. so this isn't the best deal.

Pretty overpriced if you don't want the cheese and mustard. A bit overpriced if you do.

5 oz summer sausage = $2
2 oz cheese = 50 cents
1 oz hot mustard = 20 cents

So paying $3.50 for no more than $3 worth of food.

But no one should be buying these to eat. Only good for when you have to give someone a gift who you don't like that much.
