Dang, if I had known this RP-280F would be this low at $349, I would have considered this instead of the RP-260F at $249 (SS on 1/17/2022). Great deal, OP!

I have the old version of these. Obsessed with them. Pair it with an STS open port sub and it's just fantastic sound quality for the price.

Bought a set of these for the living room 4 years ago. I am very, very happy with them. If you are into music or your audio source for your content is Stereo (youtube, streaming tv) you won't be disappointed! For me, these are the mains of a 5.2.2 system with the other speakers being RP line - RP-450C and RP-150M. Visitors who come over think these sound very nice 😀 If you are looking for a place to start to build a system around, or just want a good stereo, you won't be disappointed.

Larger woofers. Packs more punch. I really enjoy my RP-260F. Would love to be able to hear a comparison in person between them. In a perfect world, I would move my RP-260F to be surrounds and the RP-280F as my main F/L channels but my wife would kill me in my sleep.

Depending on what you were coming from, I still think the RP-260F are a fantastic speaker. Again, I'm not sure what you are replacing but I completely understand the desire for an upgrade. If this has been down to $300, I might have risked the wrath of my better half on these lol

Experts. If I'm just using these for stereo, is a mini amp enough to power it(those $20-30 ones)? I know it has bi-amp input, but I only want to use one.

Not as good as the now-defunct deal from adorama $700 for pair of RP-280FA which has the Atmos top firing speakers included.

Klipsch speakers are known for being very efficient. I drive mine with a Marantz amp with only 30w/channel, and rarely turn the volume above 9 o'clock, probably only a few watts at that point, sounds great.

Thanks for the response, which one exactly are you using? I just want to know if my old Lepai 20w amp is enough to drive it or not. Thanks.

It should be fine with 20 watts. I used to drive these with 5 watts tube amp and sounded great.

These are 98 dB sensitivity speakers which means it requires 1 watt to play at 98dB. I think you need 10 watts to get it to 108dB and 100 watts to go 118dB. 100 dB would be loud enough for most people in living rooms.

IMHO, it's not worth the the trouble. For an upgrade, I would hunt for a pair of RP-8000F's.
