How does image quality compare between laser tech and bulb? I feel like subtractive color (color wheel) is an outdated technology and additive color will win the day. Better to produce the light you want than to filter the light you don't want.

There's only a handful of truly 4K projectors. Not certain why but the pixel density would be insane

So a lot of them are "faux" 4K. But some people seem to prefer that
People prefer to save money, especially when there's little to no visibly discernable difference in image quality. What's the point of "true 4k" when you can't tell the difference unless you're sitting 2 feet away?

unless you are in high school or maybe a college student - why not? it's not that expensive. Paired with a decent screen, this think rocks.

not at all...

I do think that getting a 150" image for $1,100 doesn't count as a "toy" ... I have the 4K version of this... paired with a ALR screen - and it looks amazing. For the money, it's a good value. People that go out and buy the latest iPhone every year at launch, or own every major gaming platform - those are "toys".

I think the determinate factor is - do you have the wall space for it.

Does anyone know the "Android" aspects of this projector? Can it run apps from the Play store? Does it have the major streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Hulu, Disney+, etc.)? Can I play files off of my Google drive?

The line about having to be in high school or college to find difficulty in dropping 1K+ on something is what gave off that air to me. Other than my rent and used car I've never spent that much at once. Believe me I would love to and definitely spend that much cumulatively on various items but I've yet to make the kind of money that results in me having that kind of disposable income at hand. Cheers to those that do though

Do laser ADLP projects have noticeable rainbow effect? In, I can't do DLP projectors because the rainbow effect is very visible to me, but wasn't sure about these laser projectors and, in particular, this one.

I've been shopping around for a UST projector and this came on my radar. The problem I see here is the price. It's only a little over 1k and claiming things like 5000 lumens and 150 inch image. Best UST projectors by Samsung and Epson haven't figured that out. It's little too good to be true.

Yes, because EVERYONE who is not in high school or college should absolutely have $1,100 to use towards a home theater device. /s

What an elitist douche thing to say.

I am pretty sure this is an old projector that used to cost $2000+

It has pretty good reviews.

I would never spend this much on a 1080P.

While I do agree with you that you'd have to look closely to tell the difference between 1080p and 4k on a 50" TV, when you blow up the image to 100"+, it's pretty easy to tell the difference with true 4k source material.

My comment wasn't with regard to 1080 vs 4k resolution, but instead the "fake" pixel shift 4k that was alluded to. Pixel shift 4k compares well with "true" 4k, and the reason people would purchase it is to save money over a true 4k projector.
