I like what they did with this edit a lot. Still not perfect, but it's more entertaining and easier to follow than the original cut, I think. Definitely worth watching as long as you don't expect it to live up to the first two.

There really isn't much difference in this edition.
If you really want something different, find a copy of Godfather Epic by HBO.
Wow, that looks bootleg but might be worth a try if it's really HD quality. As far as I know HBO never released a Bluray of the epic. I have an old recorded copy from my DVR, so quality is so-so.. Did you check ebay if someone made a bootleg there might be others for cheaper. Keep us posted please.
