I have a couple this purchased within the last 3-5 years at $6-$7 each. It works well. The design of the switch is to avoid plugging and unplugging. When you have more than one device, you need to trace each cable is for which device after unplug. With a switch, you just put a label on it or remember which port. I use it to turn off a webcam and a microphone whenever I don't need it.
I have for $3.84

Back flows power so do not use a power adapter with it. I find decent powered models are more reliable when you need a lot of ports, but for switching very few it is fine
I use a power adapter with this one. Works fine. That is the main reason why I got this in the first place.

Does it disconnect all wires with the switch or only some of them? Anyone know?

For example, would turning the switch off protect a backup hard drive from a potential surge? Or do I still need to disconnect it?
No only the power wire is switched.

It looks appealing, until you discover the short cable (only 8 inches).
Who cares if "2 ft Extended Cable" is in the title?

They have two different versions of these, an 8" and a 24". This is the 24" version.

This thing has been great. Had one for 5 years now and was a savior when I got the Oculus Rift CV1. Computer's default ports couldn't power the headset but for some reason plugging this hub in, then plugging the headset into the hub allowed it to work.

Used to be $4 a few years back. I bought two. They work very well. I'd love to get one more when price drops again.

Sorry, that price is for 8" version.

Does anyone know of a high end version of this? I have this and it works great for my Blue Yeti mic. But my camera/Elgato Cam Link 4k would constantly freeze. That product seems to need direct access to a USB on the system.
Elgato makes a Thunderbolt 3 dock. Definitely high-end at 40Gbps But you need to have a thunderbolt 3 port on your laptop/desktop.

Bez-mart tells me that I bought this 3.5 years ago and it's still going strong. I use a Chromebook (well, Chromebox, but whatever) as my daily driver and sometimes my USB headset will not show up in its audio sources. Toggling the switch on this hub is an easy way to get the headset back to functioning. I have a couple other peripherals plugged into the hub that I don't have to power-cycle like that, but it's nice to know that I could without having to navigate the rat's nest of cables on my desk (and under my mounted-on-an-articulating-arm monitor) to unplug/replug; pressing one lighted button is far easier for me.

Does anyone know what chipset is in these?
I have problems with some VIA chipset hubs.
One of the reviews (from someone who doesn't know the difference between a component manufacturer, and a finished product) shows a Genesys controller. At least the picture was worth something, even if their words are not.

The product by itself it very useful but I have seen these sell for about 5-6 dollars. Unless you badly need it right now, this isn't a deal. Infact i bought exactly similiar one from cvs clearance two weeks back for about $6.

This is a solid little piece of kit. I've probably depressed the buttons a couple thousand times. Still works like a champ.

As the post says... It doesn't support charging or anything that requires power because these are unpowered USB...

10$ is not a deal considering its unpowered.. most people will plug in their phone and wonder why its not charging... or other peripherals that need power.

used to be FAR from Newegg

if you want to play the "used to be" game, might as well really go for it:

Prices 1960...
Cost of a first-class stamp: $0.04
Cost of a gallon of regular gas: $0.31
Cost of a dozen eggs: $0.57
Cost of a gallon of Milk: $0.49
What was the hourly rate? That's before Nixon Fkd us with the petro dollar... It's all Fiat $$$
