The "Online Savings" mailer has just been sent out. I know this isn't the in-club mailer so apologies if that disappoints anyone (that should be arriving soon I assume). Images are attached but you can also find them at the Imgur link below.
$125k a year with no kids outside of the highest COL cities is "soft" rich. Can buy a house, can buy a new car when you feel like it, don't have to pay attention to the cost of your Costco cart kinda stuff. That's the only kind of rich that matters to me.
The problem with those numbers is that you're cherry picking both ends. You're using a high percentage in terms of number of Americans and a low percentage in terms of how much they contribute to the tax bill, without explaining any secondary factors.
Firstly, that number is only applicable recently because of the pandemic, it's usually lower.
But more importantly, what percentage of overall income did those ~60% represent? When you say that stat, you make it sound like that 64% should contribute 64% of taxes to make it "fair", but the Top 1% of earners made more than the bottom 50% COMBINED. Of course they should pay more in taxes.
Ah yes, the top percent boogeyman, VAST range from taxed to death ~500k earned income to the billionaires who largely derive wealth from cap gains/various assets. In 2019, 44% paid no income tax - yes that stimmy has a resounding effect on productivity, doesn't it. Imagine how many more paid next to nothing. Don't be glib, I'm not remotely suggesting they who make next to nothing should pay lion share (or anything), quite the contrary, I'm saying in my Aaron Burr voice, talk less, smile more.
Earned income (read: farrrrr from billionaires) we work hard for our money, shouldn't be taxed to death then squandered by DC and state merely because it's easy pickings. To the under/un employed: enjoy free ride you got and all medical bankruptcy anecdotes aside (I support Medicare for all), maybe take some personal responsibility for too often the bad life choices that got you there; stop incessantly seeking ways to squander worker bees salary even further just because it's an easy target. It's clear as day looking at number of job vacancies that UBI would never work in this country in the way conceived by Yang Gang.
FYI, those smarty-pants prenatals in that teal bottle are the worst tasting things in the world. Threw out an entire bottle after none of our pregnant friends wanted to touch it either.
How is the quality of furniture from Costco, like those sectionals and couches? Anyone has any experience?
The furniture quality is usually good at Costco, however, the delivery is hit or miss. Many people complained about the delivery crew too. We just bought a recliner sofa/loveseat set from Costco last year and the initial delivery crew is very good. There was one side of the loveseat with some mechanical defect and it took them a month to replace it due to the pandemic/logistic issue as that item was out of stock most of the time. When we got the replacement, a different crew delivered it and pick up the original one. They ruined it by removing all wrapping in the driveway and rolled the sofa through the door vertically leading to scratches on the loveseat a couple places. When Costco followed up with replacement by email, I mentioned the delivery issue. They offered another replacement. Due to the pandemic and long wait, I declined that and attempted to fix the scratches by myself as they are at bottom corner and at a not very obvious area. A week later, they sent me a gift card as compensation. So, their customer service can definitely help if you have any issue with the quality of the furniture.

OK, so furniture is one of those things folks like to try before they buy. Costco furniture gets lots of thumbs up here but what happens if when you get it it just doesn't fit you right, or fit your space right, or you don't like the color, or whatever . . . you just pick up the phone and ask them to come back and take it away and get a refund? Just like that?

Should've returned it. It's Costco.
I did, I ordered it from their website and they refunded me and told me to give it away or trash it
I'd suggest investing some more. You spend 1/3 of your day laying on it.
