SlickdealsForumsHot Deals60" steel Threaded Extension Pole for brooms, squeegees, paint rollers, etc. $2.17 -YMMV, in store only, but seem to be readily available.
$8.68 at all stores in my area, so this definitely is not at that price everywhere. Thanks though, would've been good if it was available.

Desert, yes, I just checked ABQ and out of stock, so retail price will show. About 90% or more of the roofs there are flat that these are also used for. In Illinois, I am seeing 20 to 30 at several stores.
Closest Lowe's to me has them @ $7.27. Some other stores in the Philly area have the lower price though. Wonder if it is quantity driven. My store has eight while the others have 30 or more.
Might of made the trip but no car at the moment. My Focus was totaled by a dirt bike.

Unless I am close, I just can't justify driving any distance to save a few dollars. Meanwhile, a Focus totaled by a dirt bike is kind of scary.... Maybe you need a truck.

You are thinking outside of the box and it depends. These are pretty rigid and would work for 3 or maybe 4 feet, but loaded down as in crammed for 5 feet, they are going to bow without a middle support anchored to a wall stud. Most use these[homedepot.com] that are cheaper elsewhere and in some quantity to then put a shelf on top.
great price if you can get it. 20 years ago I worked at a factory that made these - not sure why, but I remember we paid $.95 for the steel pole with hang cap and around $.30-35 for the threaded ends, but plastic. Still had to drill, rivet, stomp, and pack them on top of that.

You can make the rounds and gather a truck load. I plugged in 62701 for Springfield, Illinois and plenty of them to the Indiana line.
