I own this and it's good for powdery snow but anything slushy bogs it down quickly. Also the wheels leave much to be desired. Probably fine for most, but it's not always ideal for Minnesota winters.

Sounds to me that the "Refurbished" ones from DTO were in the same shape as the one I got off eBay. None of them were "Refurbished", but sounds like they just shipped the returns from Home Depot, as they got them.

I'm betting some rubber hose clamps would prevent it from sliding, add them right where the handle slides out.
Lol if it happens to me, I will slap a bead of epoxy around the locking area fully extended. no issues. I dont need it to be collapsed.

Well, just got done clearing a 2 car, 100 foot driveway off all the snow that the Blizzard of 2022 dumped in the Boston area (approx 18+ inches, plus drifts) and I can 100% say....

This Ryobi snowblower is NOT meant to be used for New England blizzards.

Thank GOD I still had my old (10yr old almost) Craftsman 24" 2-stage gas powered snowblower as a "backup" (and got it ready/serviced for this storm). It made short work of the snow on the driveway, and even did the packed snow at the of the driveway with ease. I can imagine that the $1500 2-stage Ryobi battery powered blower would be the same, if I ever decided to get that one.

I did all the "clean-up" with the Ryobi, and I love its power and maneuverability for the stuff thats 12" and under, but single stage (limited to 13" of snow height) is NO match for a 2-stage, 20" height clearance, steel auger (gas or electric/battery powered) blower for this kind of storm.

Got mine yesterday and the box was beat to hell, holes everywhere, batteries were missing, and the blower itself was in rough condition. I emailed DTO and plan to call to start an RMA this week. What a disappointment

I think that DTO relied on Ryobi to "refurbished" them, and Ryobi didn't (but just shipped the returns they got from Home Depot, as is, to DTO).

Just get DTO to ship you replacement batteries, and see if the unit works.

so if the unit is working properly, its actually pretty good for light snow users up to 12 inch? how much power/battery did it eat up for how long of cleaning up? 30 min runtime 2 batteries?

Yes. It's all I've used all year long, to date, for storms that have dropped upto 9" of snow.

Only got the 2 stage out and prepped when I heard we might get upto 24" from the blizzard.

Otherwise, with two fully charged batteries, can easily do my 2 car driveway, and walkway, with the Ryobi.

30-45 min runtime with both batteries, depending on the effort needed to clear the snow.

we will never see over 6 inches in ohio dayton, this will be perfect once they fix my unit or give me a new one.

Also, for those who received theirs, can they state which model they received? RY40860 or RY40862, I just read that the 62 version has an updated board that prevents the stalling issue I have.

I got mine and I could barely push the unit without the handles collapsing. Absolutely pointless to attempt to use.

I feel like I hit the lottery getting mine and testing it out and then coming back here to check how others faired 😳 lol. Box looked a little rough but blower itself seemed fine, no handle issues that others have mentioned. Was missing the screw to attach the chute to the main section but had plenty laying around. Tested out in about 3 inches of snow and had no issues and batteries lasted the 30 minutes I needed. Knock on wood nothing happens next time I use

is that little screw suppose to hold the chute maintain its position? that chute always going to straight automatically. That screw was missing from my package. I will try to get one if it helps to lock the chute.
