A beautiful story. The way Neil described it at a reading (as best as I can from memory)
"I was in Melbourne, FL and my wife was in Melbourne, AUS and I was hoping to convey to her my childhood. So I started writing. At first I had a short story and I reached out to my agents. 'Appears I may have written a short story'. Yet I continued writing and had to call back, 'Oops, apparently it has become a novella'. Then had to call again, 'Oh no, it's a novel'."
