I listened to the audiobook of this, read by him iirc. Strangely simple but very engaging at the same time.

I found the end unsatisfying, but the journey is worth the read.

And if you get the chance, the west end live production is incredible.

Gaiman is great. This book is solid, and the price is great. Melancholy and reflective story. I will read it again.

A beautiful story. The way Neil described it at a reading (as best as I can from memory)

"I was in Melbourne, FL and my wife was in Melbourne, AUS and I was hoping to convey to her my childhood. So I started writing. At first I had a short story and I reached out to my agents. 'Appears I may have written a short story'. Yet I continued writing and had to call back, 'Oops, apparently it has become a novella'. Then had to call again, 'Oh no, it's a novel'."

Love his stuff. This was a slightly short read, but it was enjoyable - quite whimsical.

Would it be similar to Fortunately, the Milk, by him? It's a short book and much better read by him.

Glad to see the love here. I read this 5-10 years ago and still think of it all the time.
