I love Neil Gaiman. This is not his best work by any means, but still enjoyable. I really wish he didn't allegedly sexually assault people, as that puts a damper on my endorsement of his fiction.

A lot of people.consider it one.of Gaiman's weaker works. it is one of my favorites. It has a gentler than many of his works, and the ending does not tie up all the plot.elements cleanly. But the journey to that.ending is well written, and grafting A neat and everybody is happy ending would betray the rest of the story. In atmosphere think more along the lines of the original Twilight Zone.

I've read a few, and listened to a few on audiobook. My experience with this was an audiobook. Like all of his works, they are certainly unique, and unique from each other.

I can't quite put this story to a good description, American Gods was like a universe compared to this, but that shouldn't really take anything away from it. The best description I can give it is a fever dream of 7-year old child; unexplainable events, a little bit lite violence (it's been a while since), and somehow dreamy with safe places. I swear I wasn't on anything. It's less violent than a Harry Potter story. I think this is a safe book for a middle schooler.

I still really liked this story and I sometimes think about listening to it again.

While I see the internet calls this a novel, I remember from the introduction that he said this was meant to be a short story but it kept growing. So it is not as long and complex as american gods. at least according to amazon, american gods has more than double the number of pages.

This was the very first book that I read when I bought a kindle 10 years ago, with the purpose of getting back into reading. I had gotten the kindle for christmas and the book was on sale for the holidays as well. I had never read anything by Neil Gaiman and it blew my mind. I read it all in one afternoon & evening, my brain was so surprised by the topic I could not put it down. I read more of his books afterwards and I liked those better, but this still has a special place in my heart.

It's a typical, how do you categorize this, Gaiman book. My mind wanders back to it sometimes and I certainly enjoyed it. It's not so different than American Gods or The Sandman.

Allegations are not facts. Until he's charged and convicted in a criminal Court, he's innocent.

End of story.

What? It's completely different from those. More personal, more intimate, really. It's a great story.

I agree. Neil Gaiman is a talented author and I love some of his books (Neverwhere, Graveyard Book, American Gods) but his personal life grosses me out. I wish I'd never bothered to find out more about him outside of his writing.
