With the nation facing its worst blood shortage in over a decade, Krispy Kreme wanted to find a way to show our support for those willing to roll up a sleeve and give blood during January, National Blood Donor Month. For one week, 1/24 – 1/31, anyone who donates blood or platelets will receive a free Original Glazed® dozen. It's our way of helping the American Red Cross increase awareness of this urgent need and saying "thanks" to those who step up to help their community.

Here's how it works: Give blood any time between 1/24 – 1/31, then stop by your local Krispy Kreme for your free Original Glazed® dozen. Just show your proof of donation and date via your donor band or sticker, or flash your donor app.

Cool, can stack this with other RC "promos". There are no KK around here and it's a rather odd thing to give for donating blood but whatever works I guess.

RC typically has shirts or $10 GC

So you give them a pint of blood, worth 150$, and they give you a dozen donuts, worth 13$.

Sounds like a Slick Deal, alright.

EDIT/ADD:

For those who TD'd this Comment, just read through the following Comments, and you'll see that this Comment generated thoughtful, AND helpful Comments on making blood donation more Equitable for the Donor.

There's not a THING wrong with stating Fact: These Non-profit Blood Banks do make a lot of money off donations.

And there's equally nothing wrong with Donors expecting more equitable Respect for their time and their body's product.

Below you'll read Comments were some blood banks are paying Donors for blood .... hard, green Cash to pay your bills, and not a dozen donuts.

A donut is of course no it going to persuade anyone to give blood.

However there's a truly critical shortage and has been since Omicron. It's at what they call a Crisis Level. So donut or no,if you can donate, please do.

If you have a legal source that buys blood from donors for $150 then yeah its a bad deal. if not then yes a free dozen donuts is a nice bonus for your everyday person who normally get nothing or a free shirt or something.

I donate plasma a couple times a year. because I dont donate regularly, they send me coupons for like 2 for 500, or 3 for 600. every 4-6months.

I dont mind, 200 an hour few times a year roughly. but I wouldn't donate blood, imo, if you donate, get paid for it. I dont get excited for "helping" free for donation of blood. they just profit off you. nothing charitable about it.

you know the blood "donation" centers just sell your blood at exorbitant markups? its not like they are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts

I know plasma peeps make bank, but if you donate rarely, the coupons @ 200 or 250 per donation for a few times imo is a lot more satisfying than being rewarded cookies

this is my last few donations. isnt bad, im like 10 minutes from the center. takes about 30-40mins or so

Blood is worth far more than a dozen donuts that probably costed KK a couple bucks to make. I feel like any kind of donation is a scam...it's not like the hospitals are giving it to patients for free (which would make it worth it). If they're going to charge hundreds of dollars a bag, then at least give donors a $50-100 cut.

Don't hospitals charge the patients for blood?

If you eat the donuts before donating blood, they can use your donation in place of adrenaline shots.'

The recipient might get the diabetus, though.

Idk. Just never liked donating blood for free. They profit off you without much incentives for the donor
