If you have the Costco credit card, this warranty becomes 7 years

Neither of those statements are true. Only thing the C1 has going for it is VRR. The 77" panel of the A80J Is an evo panel that's unlocked so it's brighter than the 55" or 65" models. The 77" C1 is evo supposedly but software locked.

The sony also just beats out LG for image quality so not sure what you mean. Side by side screens really show how crushed LG is compared and upscaling is also much better as well as calibration out of the box.

It's still showing 10%. It must be charged to the Prime credit card. If you don't have Prime I think
It's only 3%, when using the card. Add to cart and checkout you'll see the 10%.
Sorry let me clarify.

On the sign up page for the card, it shows 3% cash back not 5% generally as was mentioned previously in this thread.

But I understand what you're saying about the 10%. Where does that offer exist to view prior to signing up for the card?

Do you have Amazon Prime membership? It you don't, the Amazon Prime card only gives you 3% back.

The Sony is brighter. The LG has better viewing angles and handles reflections better.
I thought they were the same panels?

Possibly, but Sony pays additional for pristine screens, and the boards and software that drive the panels are different. LG may dial down their software to avoid burn in. Sony may use larger and faster ram for better processing.

Great TV for a medium to dark room. If your room is bright, forget it and get a bright LED TV. You will not like this TV in a bright room.

If you have a dark room, don't worry about anything and get it.

This deal is good but bought from Costco as I have Citi Costco which gives 4% back and 5 yrs SquareTrade warranty with additional 2 years from Citi. Also, it's easy to price match Costco if they reduce the price in next 30 days and sometimes, they adjust within 90 days (was able to do for Sony 85" Class - X90CH Series). Between Amazon and Costco, it mostly comes down to what credit card we have and what benefits comes with it. GT price $2699 isn't so convincing for me without additional warranty and risk of dealing with damaged tv on delivery.

Have been looking to purchase the 77" for awhile now. After the 10% back it's $2700 delivered on Monday. Finally pulled the trigger. Now let's hope the eye test makes it worth the $$!

FYI,

Green toe will probably accept an offer of $2,700 no tax for the Sony 77" A80J. They accepted my offer of $2,700 for the LG 77" C1. Which makes this offer for me $2,500 + tax (my tax is 10%) ish. Better than the Amazon deal.

I was debating between the two TV for the longest time.

Oh that is nice. I would enjoy warranty from Costco. Anyone thinks this is the final sale before Super Bowl or there is still more juice to squeeze?

It seems if you don't game the prior years model for 1500 is a better deal.

I'm pretty sure this was $1799 before. Being that new models are right around the corner no way I would pay more than the lower price it was before.

I think this TV performs well in bright rooms. I use it in a bright room and the picture is great. This TV is brighter than the C1.

I don't. That explains it. Ok so I'd need prime membership and then the prime card to get 10%. Otherwise it's 3% and the person who wrote 5% was just wrong?

And that's worth the $50 membership alone.
If you have their credit card you also get 3% back, which ends up being about $100.

they'll also deliver it for free, and come pick it up for free if you decide to return it, which I ended up needing to do for one and really appreciated that.

I agree with this. After having the a80J I can say that it's actually better for gaming overall than the C1 despite not having vrr. You get significantly better picture quality, near black performance, color accuracy, and low resolution game upscaling. With movies it just absolutely blows it out of the water.

The only reason you'd want to pick the LG over the Sony is if the one less HDMI 2.1 port is a deal breaker for you.
