Got to hand it to Nintendo for releasing a system and for 5 years not needing it to a price drop. Say what you will, that is impressive.

It will drops in price as we are approaching the 5th anniversary sales and won't beat previous year sales number especially when Nintendo WONT release a mid gen upgrade anytime soon thanks partially to OLED Switch.

If Nintendo want to be #1 in terms of unit sold, gotta drop price a lil bit to garner more success especially with the price difference already being small. V2 non OLED switch isn't going to last longer than the others especially with the silly $50 difference. Majority will say OLED is the new favorite.

Switch Lite vs OLED for example is a big $150 difference or obvious reason. Like 2DS vs N3DS XL or Series S vs X, PS5 DE vs Disc Edition. As a result my prediction for the V2 non OLED switch will drop to $269.99 and Lite will drop to $179.99 (but funny enough Lite has been OOS everywhere since Christmas season except the pink one so idk. Beside, chip shortage is causing a longer console generation anyhow)

Probably simpler to say that the Pandemic is causing a longer console generation. MS and Sony already had contractual agreements to manufacture the new consoles, so they didn't have a choice to stay with their PS4/Xbox One consoles. Nintendo was still not bound to contracts and the chip shortage allowed them to delay releasing their mid gen upgrade.

True. Then it's depends on Nintendo's priority right now. Sales are projected to be lower than the previous year and especially true if price won't drop.

It's weighing the benefits of total sales to total profit. Not lowering the price of what they sell holds their value better than a game or console that drops prices and is predictable. But you do make a good point that the regular v2 console isn't selling well because now everyone wants the OLED (despite all the negativity that it doesn't have a faster processor/graphics chip). Nintendo reached economies of scale a long time ago but are still not passing on the savings to the consumer.
