#2. Port number to Google Fi and get the promotion. Make sure the Google Fi sim sees some use for the next 120 days. Schedule a call once every other Sunday from the Google Fi number. The Google Fi sim MUST be in the S21 when you make these calls, do NOT put it in another phone.
#3. If T-Mobile lets you use an esim in the S21, you're all set. You can keep the Google Fi sim in the sim tray and use T-Mobile as an esim. Make sure to set esim as primary for everything (calls, texts, data). If you can't use T-Mobile as an esim, then you'll need to swap the sims every so often, so Google sees that the S21 is active on their service. Note that even if it was possible to activate Google Fi as an esim on the phone, I wouldn't until the 120 days is up. Reason being is that others have had issues with other providers because they (providers) are looking for a specific IMEI, which is IMEI1 and is the one for the physical sim. You're asking for trouble if you assume the system knows that two different IMEIs are for the same phone.
#3.5. Assuming you get dual sim working (physical sim for Google Fi and esim for T-Mobile), the Google Fi number would be great to use as a burner line for things like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Tinder, etc. If you start getting a lot of nuisance calls, just do an unconditional forward to a junk Google Voice number you have.
Let us know if this actually works.

Buy phone and get Google Fi sim. Take out Google Fi sim and let it sit collecting dust for 120 days, however, can use the phone on day 2 to 120 with other providers like Unreal Mobile or Mint Mobile?
Buy phone and get Google Fi sim. Have to use Google Fi sim with the phone that you bought for 120 days. You cannot use the phone with other providers for these 120 days?
I hope the first statement is true because that is how I am understanding it from others.
And crap, I have to transfer in my existing number, which is what I am trying to avoid. Any ideas on workarounds? My other contract expires on 3/28/2022 and I get up to 2GB of data included.
This deal and most other deals require you to keep service active on the same SIM for 90-120 days, so if you plan to do the deal, a referral is a free $20 discount off what you have to pay anyway. I've used it in the past and it works as expected -- the keys are activate the SIM in the phone you get from Fi, and DON'T MOVE THAT SIM to any other phone until the time's up and it shows the credit fully earned in your Fi account. Fi is _very_ sensitive to SIM swaps during promos!

By the way, data is prorated. You don't have to pay the full ten dollars of you're under 1gb. I didn't know that

Is this true? Has anybody done it this way (i.e. put in any phone number, but when you activate, use the real number that you will port into Google Fi)? In another words, let's say I sign up and put in that I want to port in 111-111-1111, but once I get the phone and Google Fi sim and are ready to activate (within the 30 days of showing delivery), I call and say I want to activate 222-222-2222 instead.
I ask because I do not want to port in my current Mint Mobile number because the data cost for Google Fi is too high. I am just here to get the phone and continue using Mint Mobile with the new S21 phone. I will find a different REAL port-in number to Google Fi when I figure out how to get one of those for the lowest cost from some place.
