Marriott status is not that valuable. My last stay as a Titanium, I had to fight to get a room with a nice view. Didn't even bother asking for a suite, even though the program states I should be eligible for one. Marriott has repeatedly stated they want to take care of hotels, not members.

I was the last one in my company to stick it out with Marriott, but everyone has switched to Hilton because their rewards program is much better.

Yes, it is a promotion for everyone through 5/4/22. The catch is, it doesn't apply to existing reservations - so you'd need to rebook (at today's rates) any existing reservation to benefit from this.

basically each paid stay gets 1000 extra points and 2 stay credits per night instead of one.

no bonus for any points/cash and points reservations.

Your assumption above is spot on. I explained it in an earlier response to someone that was thinking you had to reserve the room after registration b/c of this verbiage... "Only stays made after registration will qualify toward the promotion."

That is referring to the stay, not the act of making the reservation. It is implying that even if you make a stay during the promo period, but you failed to register prior to the stay, then it would not qualify for the promo. i.e. If you stay at a Marriott on Feb 10th (during the promo period), but you don't register for the promo until Feb 28th (still in registration window), then the Feb 10th stay would not qualify. They run these promos each year, and the terms are almost always the same.

I am 100% positive this is how it works. I stay in hotels 100+ nights annually and always play the promo/rewards game.
Yes, thanks. When I originally registered, the fine print was different. See post #60. It actually stated that only reservations made after registration would qualify. So they did change it, which is better.

I can't wait to either (fully boosted but with our first baby on the way, trying to stay hunkered down for a few more months), but I can't imagine that the regular work traveling is back to 100% even today. These deals may just be indicative of that. Thoughts?

Is there a rough dollar translated value of 1000 points in their program? I had an existing reservation and it'd be $10 more to cancel rebook for the promo points.

There is no reason to cancel and rebook. If you register and stay during the promo period, you'll qualify. Simple as that.

I just registered. I am a current elite member. This is really only a deal for those who will be booking and paying for stays between Feb. 8 and May 4. You will get extra points and elite night credits for those stays. If you don't have any stays coming up, this doesn't appear to have any value.

Make sure you pay for the reservation, not points or FN

Was going to PM you but you didn't activate that option. I don't want to start a flame war here on topic of chances of catching a virus and getting sick and such. Will try to stay away from that as much as possible.
Yeah I don't think work travel is back to 100% but I do think vacation travel is quite high, relatively speaking. I know for my work, we're probably at 95% of normal travel. Most people in my office that travel really don't give it a second thought.
I think vacation travel is high given the amount of flights that are available, since flights are cut back. I'm no longer able to find certain flights either in frequency or simply the route no longer exists. Lots of flights are completely because of the reduced frequency and options.
I actually think this is a great time for you to travel w/ baby coming. Take the time to rest now so that you can attend to baby in the future. Congrats on the new baby. While the chances of infants catching a virus is still relatively low, I fully understand the desire to take precautions until this thing becomes an endemic.
That's my take.

I have a stay on 2/8 that I booked a month ago so I'll let everybody know if it all goes well. I read it the same way you did.

Business travel is nowhere near 2019 levels. But there are still plenty of companies and people who have to travel due to the nature of their job so that wasn't going to go away completely.

Travel trends are on the up & up but everyone is now afraid of Omicron and as soon as the new one is out everyone will be afraid of that one too. This isn't going away any time soon, no need to continue to put your lives on hold.
