Marriott status is not that valuable. My last stay as a Titanium, I had to fight to get a room with a nice view. Didn't even bother asking for a suite, even though the program states I should be eligible for one. Marriott has repeatedly stated they want to take care of hotels, not members.

I was the last one in my company to stick it out with Marriott, but everyone has switched to Hilton because their rewards program is much better.

Yes, it is a promotion for everyone through 5/4/22. The catch is, it doesn't apply to existing reservations - so you'd need to rebook (at today's rates) any existing reservation to benefit from this.

basically each paid stay gets 1000 extra points and 2 stay credits per night instead of one.

no bonus for any points/cash and points reservations.

stay is stay, reservation is reservation. Why ppl likes to complicate it?
because the fine print changed after it was posted and people like me read the original fine print that said previous reservations didn't qualify. So people were talking past each other.

I should make the move. Been super disappointed in their customer service as of late, lack of lounges open and their new room upgrade policies. Titanium Elite Lifetime so I guess I can move over to Hilton and come back if I not happy.
I took the same approach. I have encountered a couple of Hilton properties where the service was off, but I discovered those were not being run by Hilton. Hilton is now getting away from allowing their properties to be managed by outside entities. Most people are slow to make the switch, as I was, because they don't want to lose their status. That's why companies do these programs, but I found I was able to earn status with Hilton much faster. I hope it works out for you.

Looks like a great promo after a long time from Marriott!
Does anyone have any insight into:

1) Do the Elite Night credits expire - as in do they need to be used by a certain time like a year?
2) Can we combine multiple Elite nights to make a longer stay redemption?
3) Usually Elite Night redemptions have a cap (like hotels with 50K Bonvoy points/night). Any insight about this one?

Thanks so much!

If you are traveling for work and staying with Marriott regularly. I suggest you to apply for the Marriott credit card. You rack up the points much faster. That is how I earned my lifetime status with Marriott.
I would do that but I have to use my company credit card. Mad

I may be missing something. So much of discussion is for just 1k bonus point? 1k bonus point is nothing when it comes to redemption. One night stay redemption is at 40k points on weekends for a good marriott. So whats the fuss about? As for Elite nights, it is just a count towards membership status silver, gold etc). They add 15 elite nights every year to my bonvoy account automatically. Can I use that for stays, I am not sure. When I go for redemption, those 15 nights don't show up anywhere. It only shows the points I have on my account.

So, I register in this promo, book 2 nights stay paying $500 or so, get 2k bonus points and 4 elite nights. How does it help? I am not a frequent traveler (once a quarter). This thread gives me a feel that I may not be using my annual 15 elite nights credit effectively. Any tips?

You don't "use your annual 15 elite night credits". It simply adds to the count.

Also, if you're an elite using a co-branded CC, this adds between 2-5% (depending on room rate) to your points-back rewards (converted to dollars) - might get you to 20-23% return.

For instance, after tax, I recent payed $534 for two nights after tax. I accumulated 10,480 points for the stay plus and 3204 additional on my CC. With an extra 2k, that would've brought it to about 22% back in points

if you call customer support they will register you. It took me less than 3 minutes calling the Titanium Elite hotline and it took my colleague less than a minute using the Ambassador hotline.
You can also reach out via their Facebook group and they can register you for the promo. Decent enough promo for those who still aren't traveling a lot but want to maintain status going forward or increase their level in the program. Basically a double elite night promo with an extra 1000 points per stay. Good way to back door cheap United silver status for people that are interested in that. Without a Marriott credit card you would need 35 butt in bed nights to reach titanium during the promo. (35 nights x2 elite nights plus using the 5 elite nights for the platinum gift. If you want to use the points you accrue via the bonus (plus what you earn for the spend on the stay) you could actually have less paid nights by another 2-3 nights.

Elite night aren't redeemed. They are simply used to determine what elite at status you reach in the program. Think of them as more like the segments airlines use to determine status levels. Points are used to book free stays.

Definitely not. As others discussed, you should get the credit if it's "STAY" after registering but honestly I remember most of the promos being "BOOK" after registering so I'm not confident. That being said, $500 is definitely not worth it anyway. For that price find a cheap hotel and do a staycation or just spend the $500 on whatever benefits increased status would give you (breakfasts, etc.).

We did some before Omnicron hit (triple vax) but have slowed it back down - so have my friends in consulting (the power travelers). That's why this promo is actually super valuable for me and my spouse: we're both a year and a a hundred or so nights away from lifetime platinum but since neither of us travels much for work getting the 9th/10th year of platinum is challenging. With a vacation or two, our Amex card elite nights, and this promo, we should make it. I think we're literally going to book a cheap hotel outside of the city (we live in Texas so we're talking $80) - go check in and drive home lol. Between the 1000 points, double night, 500 point check in bonus, and normal 15 points per dollar for platinum (17.5 for me as Titanium) and 6 point per dollar for the Amex gives:

Platinum: 3,180 points for $80 stay
Titanium: 3,380 points for $80 stay

Depending on how you value them, that's $20-$30 in points so I'm paying $30 for one elite night credit, or equivalent to $1500 for platinum elite. While I definitely wouldn't pay that straight up for one year of platinum, we already have some nights from our Bonvoy Amex cards and this is going to push us to lifetime platinum, which I REALLY want to do before they change the requirements due to perennial devaluation/"optimizing". We're not traveling as much and have the platinum benefits (in particular, free breakfast) locked in for life is huge for us.

Nerdwallet says .7 cents, TPG says .8 cents - I find those to be about right. I came from SPG and while they definitely watered down the program a ton, adding in all the random little Marriotts has been good for us. For example, when I stay at a Springhill/Fairfield/Townplace/Residence Inn in the suburbs when visiting family in Texas I feel like I get around 1 cent per point (a $100 night after taxes is typically 10k points).

For me, the real value is when you can stay 5 night to get that 5th night free.

I don't know how many nights you need or want to requal you titanium but if you are doing a mattress run and want to minimize your cost book in segments over a week as that will usually trigger the long term stay rate which cheaper than the normal bar. If you really don't plan to travel much you might want to book a 31 day stay as many municipalities allow taxes to be removed so you would save that lodging tax. Maybe make you nightly cost closer to $50-60 before you factor in the points.

Why not?

Covid is the cold now, especially if you've been vaccinated. If you haven't gotten it, you will. (and I got OG covid).

How long are you going to hide from the boogeyman?

1k pts isn't really much to write home about. The better bonus for me is the additional night - so you could get Pt in 25 nights rather than 50 (assuming they were all doubled), etc.

Elite nights in this sense are used solely for tiers, they are not redeemable for free nights. Your 15 night "credit" is the same thing - just gives you a leg up on achieving status in any given year. They function alot like MQM in airline parlance - not "spendable".
