Marriott status is not that valuable. My last stay as a Titanium, I had to fight to get a room with a nice view. Didn't even bother asking for a suite, even though the program states I should be eligible for one. Marriott has repeatedly stated they want to take care of hotels, not members.

I was the last one in my company to stick it out with Marriott, but everyone has switched to Hilton because their rewards program is much better.

Yes, it is a promotion for everyone through 5/4/22. The catch is, it doesn't apply to existing reservations - so you'd need to rebook (at today's rates) any existing reservation to benefit from this.

basically each paid stay gets 1000 extra points and 2 stay credits per night instead of one.

no bonus for any points/cash and points reservations.

Dumb question, what is Elite night credit?
Just credits your account 1 night towards elite status, without actually staying. At 25 nights you get gold, which gives you a late checkout. I am lifetime gold, and it is nearly worthless

Which status level gives you guaranteed 4pm check out? Every time I ask for a late check out during check in they say I have to wait until day of check out to ask. When I do, they say they are fully booked and the latest they can do is like 1pm. Does late check out works at Marriott Vacation clubs also (the ones you rent directly from Marriott)?
Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador.
All MVCs are excluded from late check outs, as they are timeshare properties mainly serving owners, not elite guests.

If I got into a spat like you describe, the T&Cs of the program always work in your favor. I have been paid out for many Elite guarantees because of this as well, in addition to being offered service recovery points, when they screw something like this up. 4 pm is GUARANTEED, at the correct property and with the correct status (as Titanium, I have even had 6, 8, or 9 pm check outs as well, but obviously this was discretionary on behalf of the individual property).

Oof. The last time I stayed at a Marriott property I ended up finding old bacon in the room. The bonvoy member status appears to mean very VERY little.

I've been staying at a Marriot for two days and just came across this. Is it possible to add my current stay to this promo? I couldn't find a way through the Bonvoy App

Platinum. Gold is 2pm. It's not guaranteed for resorts and certain properties.

This is fine in the same way four free covid tests were fine. It's better than nothing, but not by much. As noted above, 1000 points is worth around $7 and the elite nights are tempered by the fact that bonvoy status sucks. This is not a program for frequent travelers or people who stash points to redeem on big budget vacations. This is a program to burn any points you earn as quickly as possible at airport hotels, where you can try and roll in free parking for your vacation and therefore get burn rates above 1cpp.

I get better perks and service as a hyatt discoverist (the lowest status they offer) than as a marriott lifetime platinum.

I have literally spent two years of my life in marriott hotels and hyatt treats me better when I stay there ten nights a year.

How is Hilton's program better? The award redemptions are terrible, with some crazy prices for some basic hotels. And Hilton's actual hotels themselves are worse in every way from any Marriott, but especially the higher tier: crappy elite breakfast, limited amenities, terrible service, cost cutting everywhere. Don't know anyone who enjoys staying at Hilton with top status versus Marriott.
I would have agreed with most of what you said a couple of years ago, but Marriott has become increasingly stingy and has publicly stated there is more stinginess to come. Their hotels have experienced significant losses and the rewards program will take the brunt of it going forward. As I started to experiment with Hilton properties, I never experienced any "crappy" service even as a newbie in their program, but I was fast tracked to elite status. I had to earn everything in the Marriott program. As far as breakfast is concerned, many Marriott properties used covid as an excuse to serve a mere banana for breakfast. Thanks for treating me like your pet monkey…lol. Hilton also does better promotions to earn points faster. There are cases where Hilton is changing too many points as you stated, but overall I don't feel like they are trying to nickel and dime me as Marriott has started doing. Hilton has also been pretty consistent about offering room upgrades.

I just can't stand that even "premium" Hilton's serve powdered eggs to members. It's like a ponderosa buffet but even lower tier because they don't have staff to maintain the buffet area and keep it from looking like a pack of animals just helped themselves.

Hilton doesn't have any elite benefit guarantee. I have been paid $100s by Marriotts for being walked, not being offered my welcome gift, etc.

You can't even get liquid body wash at a Hilton!

Again, to each their own. If you go in blindly and pick any property within the portfolio, what you stated may be the case. But if you do a few minutes of research on the specific Marriott property, and are proactive in reaching out to them; it can result in many sweet (suite) upgrades and confirmed elite benefits.

Again, maybe I am just lucky. But I will take it and if others are dissatisfied, I'll happily take whatever scraps are left of "BONVOY."

Well there you have it. It's not guaranteed at their resort properties, which is when I have stayed at Marriott mostly. I have never gotten a late check out past 1 pm, ever.

I'm an Ambassador Elite and a Diamond member. I'm a cheap slick dealer so I only stay at the cheaper properties. I agree I prefer my experiences at Marriott properties more than Hilton. I have their respective credit cards and get free nights annually for Marriott and have been given a complimentary room upgrade each time I've booked with Marriott. I enjoy the welcome gifts when checking in at Marriott (item selection in pantry) vs the water bottle at Hilton. I also love the guaranteed 4pm checkout.
While I've earned more points with Hilton through their 3x promotions, they also charge a lot more to redeem. Avg I've seen is 20k Marriott vs 50k for Hilton for basic properties. I've redeemed as low as 12.5k for certain Marriott properties. I still have 3 free nights and 15 suite night rewards to use with Marriott. No such freebies with Hilton.

Hasn't this already been settled, that one doesn't have to rebook but rather just register before the trip? I'm sorry I didn't re-read all the pages of the comments. This was pretty heated early and then it appeared as though somebody caught screenshots of the terms having been updated.

I have 4 trips coming up in the next 2 months. Booked most of them before registering and would like to know.

Thanks.

If you stay primarily in major cities, consider taking a look at Hyatt. They have some really nice properties and a great rewards program. I honestly think they are the gold standard right now, but they don't work as a go to for me because they do not have enough locations.
