If I was home, I'd definitely give this a try. We have tons of them here and several friends and I wonder how they stay open because they're always empty, no matter the time or day. One is next to a Panda Express which always has a couple cars at it. A couple friends who either BBQ themselves or are into BBQ say Dickey's sucks, and I'd kind of agree. Ate there a few times over the years and always felt it was very meh, or didn't taste like anything at all. Maybe they do well here by catering? But then there doesn't seem like that many places here would order catering?

$2.79 is the standard price of soft drink around here, so that isn't really a rip off. Its not like a $6 movie soft drink.

That said the dickeys around me have slowly gone out of business. I like dickeys but every time I go I can't use my gift cards, their system is down every single time. I swear its a scam to not take the gift cards because its every single time. I've started telling them that its all I have to pay with and magically they will take it then. I don't know if they get paid less or what with gift cards.

There were 2 locations here in the Houston area that are no longer around.
One had flies everywhere the one time I went and the other one opened and closed within 2 years. The food was below average.

It's not real bbq, it's junk fast food baked in an oven

People really hose Dickey's. I have a special nostalgia for it because the original on Knox and 75 is where my grandparents used to take me to BBQ every time I came to Dallas. You get free ice cream and they have the old-time western decorations. The brisket isn't good, but the turkey, hot links, and sides are. I've always had a really good experience there.

The ones in the airport and gas stations however....can't vouch.
Ha, that was our routine as a kid as well. Dad went to school with the founder's kids. Grandparents lived nearby. That is where we went either on the way in town or leaving, or both lol. Yeah, the brisket at the OG location wasn't award winning, but they had high sales at that location so it was always fresh. Good enough for a mean Poor Boy sammy and the sides were great as well.

The other locations in Dallas were hit or miss. Think a few have opened and closed over the years in ATX area. . .not the same and can't compete as a franchise location down here.

There used to be a Dickey's in Northridge, California but it is closed now. About a million people live around there.

I have two Dickey's near me... problem is they often don't honor promotions, or say "I'm sorry, we're out of such and such" The last promotion they were out when I arrived to pick up my order at 11am, when they opened!

Other thing is I keep getting $6.99 deals, but around here that means $10.99 when you order it online, app, or in store.

Food is good, but annoying promotions are rarely what they are shown. Frown
