Not solar. Solar would cost around 250 after discount when you find a deal

Keep in mind solar is fatter, I've hit the regular black instinct and on first use I've got 21 days on a single charge. I don't use most of the features other than push notifications which are messages, calendar, and locks on my doors. I've been quite hesitant in going the smartwatch route because I didn't like charging my watch daily, but this watch is the happy media. Sure I downgraded from titanium to silicone but surprisingly comfortable. They do have titanium straps but they're more than the watch at this range.

If this is solar i'll buy it at this price. I bought one last year for $99 tax free at Military Exchange.

Instinct Solar has same physical dimensions as this Original Instinct watch - the changes and upgrades are mainly internal with upgraded chipsets, sensors, and additional panels to the watch face - not sure what about it is "fatter"other than the cost of entry

I have the solar variant and I'm super happy with it. I like the fact that it isn't a smartwatch per-se. More like a super variant of a G shock if that makes sense. Lasts me close to a month before I need to charge. I'm sure this non-solar variant will be close to that and about $100 less. Good deal IMHO.

Yep. Still wearing Garmin Epix I bought years ago refurbished for like $120 (wearing only on hikes as it's ridiculously big)

be aware that Garmin is launching the Instinct 2 - it would be no surprise you see more common and deeper discounts on this highly rated ruggedized GPS smartwatch. I just got one (not solar charging - not much of an issue for me) for $125 at Gamestop - a one day deal, and am enjoying it, even though I already have a Forerunner 935, with many of the same features. Some useful reviews out there!

I've always wanted to try a Garmin watch but main reason I like a smartwatch is to be able to see and reply to notifications if need be.

Yes. Through a pre-installed widget. Owner's manual here for confirmation https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/w...FB225.html
