Just no. NEVER use a bare conductor to carry current. It's unsafe and it's against code. If a qualified electrician wouldn't dare do this, what makes you think it's good advice for a bunch of amateurs on SD fiddling with their home's wiring?

A ground conductor is meant to carry fault current ONLY.

Man, lot of bad info in here.

1. No, these are not dimmable. There is a separate model that is dimmable.
2. No, these can't be used as a 3-way. There is a separate model that is for 3-way set ups.
3. These are wifi only devices. Will not work with z-wave or zigbee protocols. Not much of a concern though unless you have a basic wifi setup which is never recommended. Get a dedicated IoT network for things like this to reduce your risks. Granted, hacking is very rare and the Kasa switches are highly susceptible to hacking but anything is possible for someone who is adamant but then again, that goes for anything, not just smart switches.
4. Connection issues are rare too. Any wifi device can/may have connection issues. Nothing inherent is wrong with these switches. They do require a 2.4ghz network and one that doesn't have a wide channel band. Most IoT devices are very simple, no need to prioritize speed here so keep that network setup simple. I have over 20 Kasa devices in my house, never had a connection issue, but a lot of that is a robust network setup vs. a simple Target purchased router.
5. Tapo is not likely to replace Kasa. Kasa is thriving very well in this space and their product line is growing. I don't see them going away any time soon.

Just a heads up Kasa may be on its way to being a discontinued brand replaced by Tapo if the post in the TPLink sub are to be believed.

Tapo is just a sub brand of TP-Link, a dedicated home products line.

I bought this but unfortunately found out that I have no neutral wire at the switch. Bummer.

Wish they would sell a combined two switches, I've found these get kind of tight replacing switches 1:1

Hope this is the lowest price for this item? Did anyone buy lower than this in Thanksgiving?

I have the 3 way switch version and it was a breeze to install and works great with Alexa. I am getting this one too - great price and really nice convenience

Thanks for mentioning this. I have a couple Kasa switches but was planning on making a huge investment in my new house and purchase 30+ Kasa dimmers. Researching other options now.
