This is like the red scare of the 1950's. Nonsense
Well maybe if you run a light OS.... Linux Mint... Lubuntu etc...
I have a Chromebook with a Celeron N4020 for basic web browsing and it can get bogged down with basic tasks at times....
I can't imaging using something as heavy as W10 or 11!!!!

The question. How long would be last. 😃
I usually buy minimally for 5 years usage. More than 5 is a bonus
My gateway come in a large black box with lithium sticker with laptop inserted into a cushion. Charger was in a cardboard box within shipping box.
The laptop made of aluminum and the screen is made of glass so it's quite heavy and has a quality feel to it. Camera is so dark so don't use.
I discover why reviews were claim touchpad stopped working, it because the function key let you turn off the touch pad.
Shocking! Has no battery saver option in power settings. I manually set the CPU to underclock itself. The laptop is quite fast and can be boosted to 2.8ghz.
4GB of ram that it use 2.1/3.8GB idle. Strange. Without run any program, 50% of ram consumed.
I did not connect internet with pc start and the pc has lots of shortcuts to bloatware games. Just delete. Nothing installed!
Bluetooth on by default! Turn off to save battery!
The RAM is dynamically used, has been for a long time. You can not judge how much RAM you need by comparing with idle, the system can dynamically adjust based on usage patterns and demand by other apps.
After you claim the free year of office 365 by opening up an office app, just do a fresh clean install of windows 11. No bloat and very easy to do these days.
The one I received is running 11 now and seems fine (for what it is) I don't think 11 uses more resources than 10.
I bought one and impressed with the build. Compare with walmart gateway entry level laptop.
Wins need at least 128gb and 8gb ram for running smoothly. Do not believe me? Try yourself.
I did bought lenovo ideapad 2 years ago during BF 2020. Pemtium gold, 4g ram and 128gb ssd. Performance wise are good. Bought 3 for my kids virtual schoil ans my side lap-desktop.
If you nod need NOW, wait for later. Better build and wellknown brand.
Do not buy by cheap $$and soon will be replaced. Pick for durable and good build quality and last longer.
I believe. Enough for discussion 😁.
WIndows will likely grow to 35-40gb but if you are capable you can limit that. Even so these days many folks store nothing much on the local drive.
That said if you do then you likely know how to add a SD card to this and increase storage space.

This is jusy my experience. Remember pages file of windows too, you can resize it but i leave it as default to let windows control it
No many people using clound when storage personal files. I believe it can do and dont.
Good luck
going to convert it to windows 10 non S. need to run win7 software on this somehow. maybe dual boot.
a throwaway tool laptop for me if it breaks.

Even if you're tempted to buy this for mom and dad, buy a chrome book instead. There are simply fewer support questions as well, which you'll have to deal with too.
. . .

Out of 64GB my laptop has over 35GB free space at all times. It's not some groundbreaking storage device but sufficient for daily stuff and having several movies stored locally if I need to bring it out of the house. It opens a lot of possibility to save if storage is not an issue. And it just requires some research.

64g os storage size, never work for me.
Again good luck deleting/cleaning files when doing windows update. Looks on how windows eats space after multiple windows update. Let say wait for 1 years after multiple updates.
128g is minimal for my understanding.
I do not need some research . 128g laptop pentium gold with 4 g ram is easy to get new from reputable brands during BF😆 for $150
Can upgrade ram and nvme ssd to. Well do not ask the screen it is tn 720p,🤣
35g free mostly got eaten quick😜.

Windows 10 takes about 50% of the hard drive space.
This last Black Friday, laptops with 64 GB eMMC was $200+
Not $159.
They haven't been that low since before the pandemic.
$229 or $249 was the price for Dell's low-end Windows 10 laptop.
I was trying to use my Amex offer.

I would say how long this gateway survive. 2-3 years? And get another one?
Just browsing 64g ok but some people such as me, i need to install same apps . 128g barely minimal. I surprise pentium gold release in 2020 is very responsive compare may aging t400 i3 6th gen.
2020 BF, I bought 3 of lenovo ideapad. 3 pentium gold, 4g ram and 128g ssd… $150 each, For my kids virtual school . They just went back to school this years.. well
For light browsing I prefer chromebook or tablet.. very handy with touchscreen. Just me

Chromebooks are 'eh'. Don't care for them.
I absolutely have no problems with 64GB eMMC.
Don't need any software installed.
