The rep seem to be aware of (or perhaps found out after seeing the live subsciption region) what I was trying to do, and he didn't seem to mind to help. He basically cancelled the live and game pass subscriptions, charged me a dollar for GPU, and then added 35 months individually. Whole call took a while though, 30 minutes.
Since this didn't work for me smoothly this time, when I have to renew I probably will just find some US or global live codes instead (if they still have live by then)
what I will be doing is upgrading again once it expires a year from now using this method. hopefully it will still be working by then.

Well, I actually bought the codes ahead of time on eneba, worried that I'd miss that sale, and then sat on the codes for about a week until my game pass subcription expired, then applied them as instructed. Worked out fine for me thankfully
