This is hideous.

I love it.
The black one is a dollar cheaper than this.

I don't have a Switch. Is this just an USB controller that can be used on other devices like PC, Pi, and Android phones/tablets? Thanks.
Yes, it can be used on the PC. It is a direct input controller though not an x input like an xbox controller. This means that you can have issues using it with non-Steam games on PC sometimes. It works fine on Steam since you can emulate it to work as an xbox controller.

Why would anyone use a wired controller when wireless exists? Is there a benefit to wired?

i've had mine for a long time and it's been great. i mean. it's wired, no nfc scan, no rumble, but it works perfectly and ironically no drift even though my joycons which i've had the same amount of time are completely messed up.

for $12, its a no brainer provided you can live with the wire

Unless you're playing Bit.Trip games that IGNORE Steam configuration and demand X-Input...

1. No Batteries (or charging) Needed
2. No interference from other wireless devices
3. Less likely to lose the controller (I know this seems like a dumb one, but I have a toddler)
4. Less Lag. (yes the lag is pretty much imperceptible with today's controllers, but it exist)
5. No pairing issues

Being the old fart that I am, I remember wireless control issues going back a long ways. Wireless controls universally SUCKED until the Wavebird Wireless for the Gamecube came out.

I personally just bought this control so I would have an extra multi-player control around. I have an SN30 XBOX version as the primary control on my living room system, and I plan to get another SN30 for player 2. THIS ONE will be for player 3 when we finally get around to playing the modernized, 3Dified Secret of Mana as a family. We might just play the classic again too.

Thanks! I would be using on a PC mostly, the connectivity would be slightly relevant to me but I would use wired
I'm not sure you'll find much better for the price, and it certainly will work. However, if you do a lot of PC gaming this probably isn't the best option for that purpose. This use direct input which can be a little more annoying for plug and play than a xinput controller (Xbox). As long as you feel comfortable with some configuration, it can be made to work with mostly anything though.

If you want to stay cheap and don't want to deal with direct input, then a generic wired Xbox 360 controller might be better. If this will be your primary PC controller and you intend to use it a lot, I'd recommend any official Xbox controller. It would certainly be in a different price range, but in my opinion worth it for a primary controller you would use a lot.

I bought a PowerA manufactured Arkham City themed controller for my Xbox 360 years ago. Worked for exactly two weeks before the right stick snapped internally and couldn't be repaired. Store wouldn't take it back and PowerA customer support was essentially non-existent, never answering back to emails or phone calls.

Hopefully they've changed since then but I wouldn't know since I'll never buy another product from them again.

The best cheap PC wired controller is the Logitech F310. You can spend more, certainly, but for a plain old controller, they're difficult to beat. The thumbsticks are a bit high, but that's the only complaint I can level against them.

I've got the black version of this. Picked it up at target as a second controller to use for It Takes Two when playing with my son. He's also been using it for Hollow Knight. Works well so far and the price is nice.
