Non gamer, non sports guy here. Does it really matter for me?
Forget the LG unless you want to get OLED. LG often have low contrast

Now I was going to get this TV but really after comparing it side by side to the Sony 90 series, yes the brightness is low. Other folks have stated the same. From Techradar

The Samsung Q60T QLED occupies an important spot in Samsung's TV 2020 lineup, being the cheapest of the brand's QLED sets – and therefore, effectively, the worst best Samsung TV has released this year. It's great value, but that inevitably comes with compromises, with the Q60T's picture suffering from low brightness, mild motion blur, and dull HDR objects.

Looks like Samsung wanted to save costs by coming out with a new model inferior to older model. They have been doing that lately.

But that draw necessarily comes with drawbacks. You're getting a drop in processing power compared to last year's Q60R, with a Quantum Processor Lite chip instead of the Quantum Processor 4K used in most QLED models. Edge lighting, too – a lighting system that illuminates the picture from the sides rather than behind the panel – is a cheap way to light up a set's images, but means there are issues with consistency of brightness, off-axis viewing, and the strength of HDR objects.

Ugly review here on tomsguide. The bigger the set the bigger the issues you will notice

Prob not. Prob wouldn't matter to you if you watched sports also tbh.

Also depends what you use to watch sports - if it's streaming devices I don't think it matters either.

It's not actual 120 and they are trying to smooth it out and makes it look worse to many people

My local Costco had the display model for this tv at $1000. Might want to check out your local Costco to see if there's one available near you.

The Q60 when compared to the Sony 90 series is pretty disappointing. This is a newer model of the Q60 but samsung has reduce the costs by using cheaper engine. I have seen this response by Samsung for the past two years.

You see the same series...700 or 800 or Q60 or Q70 but with a newer model number only to notice that the quality has dropped. Rtings noted this as well.

It is not March yet, that is when things get blown out but the other problem with Samsung is center DSE issues. Most DSE is in the corners or side but Samsung found a way to make it dead center.

I'm debating returning my 75" Samsung AU800D that I purchased from Costco recently for this one.

Not sure if its worth the extra $400 and the return headache for a few more inches.

Seems like this is a 2020 model and the AU800D is 2021 and half the thickness. Similar specs for the most part, I think.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I'm wondering the same thing but leaning towards the 86 for size and native 120h. Saw it in person, it's obnoxiously big lol
LG 86" is LED and Samsung 82" is QLED. How big is the picture quality difference?

120 motion refresh rate is not the same as 120Hz native refresh. 120 motion refresh rate is when you enable motion interpolation; which, basically duplicates every frame but your unique frames received are still 60Hz. Whereas, 120Hz native refresh gives you unique frames received are 120Hz.

I dont honestly ever complain about tv speakers, this 82 inch model gets loud enough, we jammed out to a movie few days ago w friends, and it was not maxed out, it was plenty strong and loud and clear.

I am happy.

before anyone says "it sucks"
theres settings in the sound panel, "standard" and "smart" sound. the smart sound, made the entire sound so much better, cleaner words, etc. it says it detects the space around do something, not sure. but standard was alright, the smart sound or smart adapt was 5x better and cleaner
