the one thing about ultra short throw is that they are ideally projected on a perfectly flat surface. Any waves in your screen or wall or sheet or whatever your projecting on will be very magnified because of the extreme angle of incident. In my opinion, ultra short throws work best with fixed projection screens, a smooth flat wall, or possibly a drop screen that is tab tensioned and not inexpensive pulldown screens or a fabric sheet or wavy sheetrock/plaster even wall texture could be trouble.
I have a 77" OLED and a 120" UST.

No one cares about the OLED after they see the projector.

thats a traditional projector, made portable. It will need quite a long throw to project, which will make the 2400 lumens a bigger issue as distance harms brightness.

This is a ultra short throw projector which projects an image from 18 inches from the screen. Additionally since the projector is so close to the screen, the 3,000 lumens will seem brighter then a 3000 lumen standard projector.

This are very different projectors and not likely to be crossed shop. Additiinally, Anker is not a high quility manufacturer so even if they were similar products, this would be an unfair comparison.

I have this and its awesome. I got it on Amazon last year when it wen on sale for 2999. Only disappointment is that this one doesn't have eARC for Dolby Atmos to work with my Sonos ARC.
Have you tried HDFury Arcana? I had success with my LG OLED E6 to get Atmos on Sonos ARC for content played on ATV4K.

I have an Epsom 5050UB with a 120" screen in the living room and a LG CX 48" OLED as my primary monitor for work and PC gaming. Projector will never gets the perfect blacks like an OLED, but there is something awesome about the sheet size of the screen that fills your entire field of vision, even when you are sitting 12 ft away on a couch.

Agreed! I absolutely love my 5050ub. The big thing missed here is that this Optima X2 projector uses a RGBRGB Color Wheel, which is inferior to Epson's full 3-chip optical engine. However, it is a great price for this Ultra-Short Throw Laser Projector. And probably an easier setup.

Not sure you understand what the word "fad" means. Been throwing 120" picture for decades here. If you're feeling left out, join the lastest fad and do whatever stupid TikTok challenge is trending today, gone tomorrow.

This or a 77 inch OLED for my basement? I am ok with spending upto $3000 and can get zero ambient lighting in the basement and have a whole empty wall that i can use to project stuff. Please help.

I want good blacks because literally every movie and TV show has a lot of dark scenes.

How close are you sitting? I have a 5050ub/135" in dedicated basement HT and the 77 oled in the living room. We enjoy both. We sit probably 12' from the oled and it's above a fire place and that gets the most overall viewing time. The image is gorgeous. The 5050 is really good, but PQ is significantly different between the two.

Get a rear projector if you have a basement. UST doesn't do blacks well and lacks shadow detail.

UST is better suited with an ALR screen in a room that has moderate light. It can serve as a TV replacement especially for sports during day

Better off getting something like Epson 5050 and a decent screen if use is in blacked out basement. You'll get much better blacks

Can you watch movies with the lights on? I have 1080P projectors with 100 in screen. Watching movies in the dark makes me tired some. One movie (1.5hr) is ok but not for long than that. With tv, I can watch like forever. As a result, I barely use projector.

Same question here. Is an ALR screen a "must have" for UST or just "nice to have"? With my current 1080p regular projector, I directly project to a wall and it seems ok to me. A 120" ALR screen costs about another $2k, which seems too much for a screen. If that's a must for a UST projector, then probably I'll pass.

It's a must have if you operate it in an environment with moderate ambient light like during the day. At night with lights off, less of a necessity.

Unless you're planning on gaming, you don't need 2.1.

A firmware upgrade (depending on manufacturer) will add DTM to 2.1

This is a big deal

I do have Fury and the sound is considerably better with it. However, I have apple TV and Xbox. Having to plug HDMI every time I play game is PITA. Also, with Arcana, apple TV remote doesn't switch projector ON or OFF. Or at least I haven't been able to set it up.

triple lasers?
No. It's single laser only, and triple lasers are more than 3-4k.
Iam now thinking if I should have just bought the samsung LSP7T deal for 1999. (I left it cause it was single laser)

Sorry - didn't mean to imply that it's identical. Similar product but definitely different.
