Bought the deal last time, really nasty taste and texture.. I gave them to my cat and they hate it as well. avoid at all cost..
Everytime.

The two kinds of tuna we are familiar with:

Light Tuna = Skipjack fish

White Tuna = Albecore fish

It's not like chicken where there's light meat and dark meat on the same animal.
Light Tuna and White tuna come from two different fish.

If you don't like light tuna, you won't like this.

Skipjack / light tuna is a much smaller, leaner fish and retains less mercury in it's body.
Albecore / white tuna is a larger, fattier fish and has more mercury

Has nothing to do with "line caught" afaik. It's not like the tuna is shaking off the mercury attempting to free itself from the line. lol
All marketing BS by Carvalho (owner) who scours the world looking for the cheapest, lowest grade fish and then adds on the nonsense claims with little to no way to verify. He's a slick marketer.

Finally managed to "catch" this deal again. Wink
Always was sold out by the time I'd get the email.

Thanks for posting.

Is this just the bags? Or are you saying this brand of tuna is bad?

I have been consuming this from a can and it is great.

Must be the bag. My family's eaten their canned tuna for years, and always thought it was better than the major brands.

Not sure everyone realizes, but the type of tuna is "Skipjack" tuna, which apparently may have a slightly difft taste than other tunas. It's supposedly a type of tuna fish that has among the very lowest percentages of mercury content.

We Never Compromise on Quality

Wild Planet Tuna is 100% sustainably caught using pole & line or trolling methods

All pole & line caught tuna is low in mercury and falls within the FDA's lowest mercury screening levels for mercury in seafood

Less than 0.1% by-catch protects non-targeted species

Gluten Free, Non-GMO Project Verified, and Kosher

No added water, oil or fillers for naturally delicious taste

People want to believe what they want to believe, even to their own detriment, in order to maintain their sense of identity? And other are ready to take advantage of that impairment? Like tuna to a fishing line, if you will.

I don't know anything about Carvalho, but the tuna is 3rd party reviewed for mercury content, and line caught and dolphin safe with a supposed "ranking" from Greenpeace (whatever that means, exactly).

What makes you think this brand is worse than other brands? What brand would you recommend that was better? The low mercury claim is definitely a big selling point for a fish that's noted for having higher levels of mercury content.

It tells you the product has lowest percentage of mercury content, which means consume at your risk. I was told that doctors don't recommend pregnant women to eat any sea food such as tuna or salmon. You would think fish is great for consumption.
