It has been that price. Just bought it 2 weeks ago.

It works well. Good price in its range. Probably won't find any cheaper Solid State Drive. 240gb is plenty for the average user unless you're gaming or something. Highly recommend swapping out the old style hd with solid state.

I think it's a hit or miss. I'm not too worried about the loss of data for my case. They do have warranty, which you do have to pay your own shipping.

There are over 16,000 reviews on Amazon with 4.7 stars average. 94% gave 4-5 stars.

Does not seem scary at all.

Also not too far behind the 4.8 stars and 97% 4-5 star ratings for Samsung Evos.

If you look at the default view for Amazon for the PNYs they list the 'top reviews' and the top 3-4 they list are people who had problems. I'm not sure but I think those 'top reviews' are determined by Amzn based on how many 'thumbs up' they got. But in meantime theres 10K+ people giving them 5 stars.

Amazon aggregates their reviews across manufacturer and product category, so those ~16K reviews are for a variety of PNY SSDs of varying capacity and quality. You need to "Show all reviews" and then change the "All formats" drop down to "Show only reviews for Style: Sata 2.5| Capacity 240GB" to drill down to the reviews only for this drive.

I see your point but these are all the same model of SSD just different capacity.
so its actually approrpiate in this ase for Amazon to aggregate all the reviews across all the sizes for the same part model SSD drives.

Still drilling down to just the 240GB the numbers are the same :
The 240GB has the same distribution and score %'s with 94% giving 4-5 stars.
Theres only 2% of reviews giving 1 star.for 240GB too.

I doubt it's this same model, but the only SSD that ever failed me was this brand. Agreed, never again.

I've used pny…. Very meh. I never had a failure but performance…. Well it's better than a mechanical drive. But I find of the cheap budget ssd the Kingston and bx500 from crucial is hard to beat

A million times this. You can turn a 2000s laptop into a perfectly fine machine for office/browsing.

Nice to have a windows laptop for lots of special purpose software. Car diagnostics. Midi piano training. Sketchy programs that you don't want to risk on your real machine.

An SSD transformed my 2000s desktop. Totally usable. I kept using it til last summer when the MB finally failed.
