How does it compare to this HP model for $50 more? I'm definitely not computer savvy but enjoy the option of a touchscreen

HP Pavilion 13.3" Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 5800U - 1920 x 1200 - Windows 11
$699

I was on the cusp of buying that HP, but once I witnessed the "Anti-Glare" display in the store, I immediately decided otherwise. I'm not sure if it can be turned off, but the guy working in the computer area seemed to think that it was built into the screen. I would suggest dropping by your local Costco to view it in person before you buy.

From what I recall when considering that HP last year, performance is heavily throttled because of the tiny chassis, and the keyboard lighting is poor on the silver deck. Nice device overall though. I would go with this Lenovo for somewhat better build quality, and (hopefully) not as much throttling.

I'm in the market for a 16:10 laptop with 16GB of ram.

My local Costco had a similar HP 13" but it had the 1920x1080 screen. That particular one had a very bad glare.

This reviewer does not like the HP because of the throttling https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTiP3Ob5s6I

This one is better, except the weight. This has slightly stronger build quality, almost 14 WHr larger battery (42 Whr vs 56 WHr battery) and better performance. HP Pavilion Aero 13 is basically configured for running cooler and quieter over everything else and the Ryzen Processor is heavily throttled, almost always staying below 20W during load whereas this one is one of the better implementation of 5800U for performance, having dual fan design and can go up to 30-35W during short burst and sustain 22W-25W for longer during, in performance mode.

Good deal, I bought the Costco Dell 13 last weekend which is an i5-11th gen. This CPU (the 5600U) is slightly faster, graphics rated slightly lower. Main reason I switched is the Dell screen feels flimsy, and there are common complaints of touchpad issues. The Lenovo seems better constructed and all metal versus the Dell has top only. $40 higher, hopefully worth eliminating any future issues. Lenovo has Windows 10 Pro vs Dell has Windows 11 Home. I use Remote Desktop to the Pro is also a benefit.

I purchased via Perks at Work for $638, just a little cheaper than the eBay deal.

I don't like shiny screens. What was wrong with the anti glare?

I don't think it's the anti-glare, it's the privacy screen from what I have read that makes the slightest off angle viewing miserable

If you like the MacOS system or use it a lot then try to find the MacBook air m1. They're probably similar spec wise except the speaker and track pad on the Mac will be immensely better

This has 16gb of RAM while the Acer has 8gb non-upgradeable. Better build quality on the Lenovo, too
