I have one of these and it crapped out on me after four months. The Gigabyte RMA process is terrible and slow. It was nice while it worked, but not sure it's worth the risk.
Are people using dipslay ports now for gaming? I haven't caught up with the latest trends but just used to having HDMI everything. Is DP the future now?

Yes. If you look at pretty much any current gen GPU, they only have 1xHDMI and usually 3xDP outputs. I only use the HDMI output to connect my computer to my TV.

Mine lasted 7 months, then died about a week ago. The panel was backlit, but screen wouldn't display any pixels -- even the monitor menu buttons wouldn't show on the screen, which rules out display inputs. Started the RMA process, they accepted (although cheapest shipping was $29.48). Then in the process of boxing up the monitor to send back, the monitor fell on its face and cracked. Now I'm paying $350 for Gigabyte to fix the broken panel. Go figure. I really hope it comes back without any issues... was really tempted to just buy a whole new monitor.
That being said, I really do love this monitor. They cut costs in all the right places, because the picture quality for office work is amazing, and the gaming is amazing as well. Just be very careful with it, it's really top heavy and fragile.

We are at least 1 more generation of GPU cards away before 4K gaming becomes mainstream. Right now, only the 3080 and above are suitable for 4K gaming.

Your comment insinuates there is no place for 3440x1440 gaming which is wrong. UW resolutions have been around for a while and will continue to be around even as 4K becomes more widely adopted.
Anyone could easily say 4k, 8k is the future... well yeah duh as tech gets better, the higher the resolutions will be. But saying 4k is the future doesn't contribute anything here hence why you're getting dv.
