Sliders add cost, complexity, size, weight, and slop. Unless you absolutely need the extra cut capacity for something that needs to be mitered, like for that the guy's tall baseboard above or large crown molding, most of us are better off with non-sliders.
It could cut a lot more than a 2x4, but I opted for the sliding one myself. It was only $20 more and was in stock at my local store for pick-up. $89 and I didn't have to pay for shipping.

It replaced a 7 1/4 " one that really WAS limited. (but that size was perfect for installing hardwood flooring and trim)

Although a decent 'refurbished' 10" hobby saw for the money, non-sliders are simply very limited with versatility. What are you going to cut besides a 2 x 4 while using 14amps?

I bought the $89 10" slider also. The fence on mine is not square. I had to remove two of the bolts on the fence just to square it up with the blade. Overall I am happy with it but the fence messed up my first couple of pieces of trim I did.

I bought this a while ago hardly used it. Then when I finally had a project to do with baseboards it was too small. So just think through that. Yes it's inexpensive but it takes up a lot of storage space and not very versatile.

Never brought a Ryobi tool. I mostly rock Milwaukee and DeWalt but the prices of Ryobi tool seem so tempting.

Hi,
Could you please let me know where did you buy it from? I am a hobbyist but I am also looking for a slider saw something under $100

That must've been extremely tall baseboard if a 10" saw was too small to cut it.

I think a 10" non-slider is ideal for most homeowners' projects. It'll handle door and window casings, brickmold, quarter-round/shoe-mold, most baseboard, small crown, and even the occasional piece of dimensional lumber like a 2x4, 2x6, or 4x4.

All I have is an old Delta 10" non slider and it does almost everything I need. I wouldn't mind a slider but can't really justify an upgrade right now.

Same place, DTO. Just about the only place I'd buy Ryobi unless it's a heck of a deal at Home Depot.

By the way, these come with 40T blades. That seems common on miter saws, but I have no idea why. That's sort-of a combo (rip and cross-cut) tooth count, I thought. Maybe manufacturers like to use the same blades as their table saws??? I'd recommend getting a 60 or 80, I think, for most uses.

Ryobi tools like drivers, vaccums, trimmers are fine. But for precision work, I'd stick with Milwaukee or DeWalt.

I bought a long Dewalt drill bit … paid good money. Got it home. Warped!
