Westerndigital.com [westerndigital.com] is offering what I think is the best yet deal on ANY high performance and high reliability 16TB drive not only because the price is decent, but because you don't have to deal with the 5 years warranty issues when buying the non GOLD labels of this drive thru Amazon, Newegg etc 3rd party sellers (talking about the OEM versions of these drives).
$600 for both
Add 2 to cart:
https://www.westerndigital.com/pr...#WD161KRYZ

10% with new customer discount (just register with email and you will get code within minutes)
OR
15% with Student, Teacher or Senior (55+) discounts [westerndigital.com] (they use Youth/Senior_verify to verify your status)
OR 15% if you had any recent coupons from their recycle program
Shipping is free

They also charged me less tax than Amz typically does.

If you use Gmail, many (but not all) sites will let you use Gmail's "plus sign" feature so you don't have to use a different email address. Use "[email protected]" for the address - everything from the plus sign to the at symbol gets ignored by Gmail (it delivers to "[email protected]"), but it looks like a different address to the site and you can filter on it in your mailbox. I'll usually use the site and date after the plus (something like "WestDigi20220205").

Not buying so don't know if this works here, but it's handy to know about.
4" is the drive dimension, but they're still 3.5" form factor. I believe 3.5" references the size of the platters in the drive.

On the subject of these drives though, at 7200rpm enterprise drives they're probably somewhat loud, and reviews seem to confirm that. They're intended to be in racks in a server farm where you won't hear them over the din of fans running. If you're buying these for a NAS, I'd only do that if your NAS is somewhere you can't hear it.
PayPal has a 12% cash back at Western Digital as well.

For comparison, 16TB External WD drive was $270 front page just recently. This GOLD is far superior if you need internal and were planning to shuck the external one. Of course you have to buy 2 for this deal.

Update:

When I bought the drives yesterday morning, I used Honey for first time. It said 1%-12% (unclear) so I didn't post this info in the OP. This morning I got email confirming 12% cash back ($65). Honey is owned by PayPal so the 12% PayPal reward might be the same thing.

$540 / 2 = $270...
A 16TB is about $280 - $290, so you have to buy 2 to "save" $20........
unless this is a CMR (but WD just never tell you, they always try to hide if their HDD is CMR or SMR)
nothing special IMO
It is a CMR drive - right in the spec. This is not just any 16tb drive, this is the best out there meant for consumers to buy (based on my humble research).

The chart on this page - also Anandtech [anandtech.com] for the 20TB equivalents pretty much says it all.

And yeah, these aren't just NAS drives. These are high end datacenter drives.

Never had a gold/RE let me down. These are enterprise drives (with MTBF's and warranties to back that up), so if you are close enough to even comparing the price per GB to "whatever you can shuck" it's a no-brainer to pick these up direct from WD.

Keep in mind, a lot of "deals" only make sense if you value your time (and in this case data) at $0.

Damn I just shucked two 14TB drives from a recent slickdeal posted. It was about ~$400 I think.

If I knew about this, or even about those coupons I would have been happier.

4" - these don't fit in a 3.5" standard HDD bay then, right?
