On top of it, my AMD version of this complains about counterfeit battery at boot up after six moths or so, first occasionally, now every time! The laptop was direct order to and shipped from HP!
Also note, at least on mine, the WiFi card is white list blocked and would not allow me to swap for WIFI 6E card.
Followed by the quality of the screen (nits, color accuracy, etc), the keyboard, the track pad (plastic vs glass, gliding vs sticky), and speakers. Across all 3, you'd find noticeable differences in the above features.
Envy is the best bang for your buck because the recent envy lineup is closer to the spectre than being in between pavilion and spectre.

- Defective component DRM whitelisting from the factory.
- DRM used to deny your "right to fix" a device you own.
I think it has a lot to do with the "security" LARP in Windows 11, where Microsoft wants to lock down every piece of hardware in the entire device. And the OEMs (like HP) are all too happy to pile on DRM to lock users into only devices they choose to configure, and force things to "break" for vague "security reasons" or just arbitrary pumping sales for the shareholders with mandatory end-of-life DRM and shove what is really a "rental" or "lease" (hardware subscription) business model on the public.

I thought HP gave up whitelisting components.
