I get zero lag on my fire cubes, I have three of them. They are by far the best Fire TV device on the market, IMO. I have had pretty much every model. I think its on par with my NVIDIA shield as far as response time. I'm actually thinking about replacing one of kids sticks, which is a total piece of garbage, with another cube at this price. Maybe you got a defective one?
Down vote me all you want. I hate lag, and with these i get ZERO. Check your model. Probably isn't the same.
For those who don't know, this has hdmi control, hdmi arc, and IR blasters. In short, it can turn on your sound bar/receiver, your TV, and your cable box all via settings and/or verbal commands.
I love it because it allows me to use one remote for all the aforementioned devices (although remotes are necessary for specific settings).

4k Max remote does this as well (the turn on/off everything, even with voice)

It's actually a downgrade, this thing is slow and laggy af, I bought one unfortunately.
Second this. Especially after they "upgraded" the UI. Used to be better. Insanely buggy and slow. Be prepared to restart every couple of days. Whoever developed and approved the UI/OS needs to be fired.

Mine has been getting worse and worse by the day! Constant restarts every day.

The second generation Cube? The second on paper is better than the 4K Max and double the storage. Just making sure you're comparing the right hardware. Minus the 4K Max having WiFi 6 support I don't see how this can be slower and laggier.

Pros: Nice to be able to turn my tv on and off or volume up and down without having to find the remote.
Cons: This thing is in serious need of a hardware upgrade. Audio gets out of sync over time and requires a reboot every day or two to fix. Navigation is very laggy.
Really like the device for what it can do but Amazon needs to really upgrade the internals at least to improve the user experience.
