Here is my take on that and things to consider.
On the up firing design, placement and angle play an important role in best performance(true for any setup). That is often a challenge in the average home layout.
Your ceiling should be flat smooth/solid surface between 8-12ft in height.
Object based sound is built on top of 5/7/9.1, adding it to entry level speakers doesn't improve the quality of them.
I understand people like to spend the least they can on sound(for many reasons).
Far too often people want to include "Atmos" in that budget thinking if it says "Atmos" it must be the best or they are getting a true Atmos experience.
Unfortunately thats not really the case, there are different levels in quality with "Atmos" and as I mentioned prior it starts with a good 5.1 foundation.
So instead of going after "Atmos" you are better off getting/upgrading your 5.1 first, that will give you better quality sound.
A good 5.1 setup can easily rival if not outperform these "Atmos" alternatives IMO.
Since all you need are speakers if you have any laying around(except for towers) you can try them as height "Atmos" speakers and see what you think.
You are better off going with Height design over these up firing "Atmos" design IMO.
Keep in mind most people have never heard a proper "Atmos" setup and sound is subjective. As you can see many of these alternatives work for people, ultimately that is all that matters.
Dont cheap out on your center, 80-90% of dialogue comes from it so spend the extra money on it.

I have two of them and the auto shut off on them is SUPER aggressive.
Instead I just have them on Alexa controlled outlets I turn on manually.

The center, sub and towers are nothing special. Bookshelves are the real bargain.

This will cost much more than these speakers, you are better off to add the extra budget to better speakers.
