Here's a link to the Apple Store[apple.com] page for this device so you can see the actual keyboard layout. Good to know it also comes with a woven USB-C to Lightning Cable.
I still have my AA battery operated keyboard that still works fine. With all of these though, size is the biggest factor. This can easily fit into your backpack more-so than any Mechanical keyboard. And having lightning is not great, but it means it can easily be charged if you're already carrying Apple products.
I only wish this one had touchID but I'll decide later if I actually want it or not.

Got one to use with my MBA. I want to compare this to the Microsoft keyboard I bought which at least supports multiple devices. The Logitech Mx keyboards are similar but a bit pricier than this
I was able to get the Apple Magic Trackpad working with the Magic Trackpad Utilities and it supports a large amount of customization and works well. The people who make the trackpad application also have support for the magic keyboards. The only real downside is that there is an annual license of ~$20 to use it. If you (or anyone else) can figure out a cheaper/ideally free way of getting it to work well with Windows, please let me know! It does 'work' without the magic utilities program but misses config options that makes for a less than desirable experience, at least with the trackpad.
