A great deal if you missed the holiday deal ($49, just vac) last year. HD is also selling 14 Gal Vac-only at $99, so the car kit basically comes free. I'm not sure what is the pricing strategy here, but looks like to me the vac is the same model.

Wasn't the $50 one during the holidays the 16gal with 5.0HP w/basic filter and not the fine particle one? and only 133CFM compared to 160 something on this one? Shorter cord as well.

Depending on what you are looking for, it may not matter. But I went for this one at $99 last year.as figure it is the last shopvac I will ever need to buy, so with the car kit I was all set.
