Can you expand on this? I am running a 850GA and 12gb 3080 in my rig just fine.
I Googled "evga GA vs G5" and many sources said the GA have a high chance to fail when using 30XX cards.
Also Googled "psu tier list" and sources show GA series with sub-notes talking about it failing same way.
Then looked at Amazon reviews from the link in this very post, and sure enough, several reviews at top of the review list is people saying their GA failed, one with their 30XX card etc.
Let me add, I got a new PC recently and a GIGABYTE GP-P750GM PSU, to find out only days before using it that this particular model (750w and 850w) has a 50/50 chance of exploding and catching fire. Do I take a chance at 50/50? If it was winning the lotto, sure, if it was whether my house burned down, no. If you Google "psu tier list" take a look for yourself, this GIGABYTE model is in the do not use at all section. Your model might not be that bad, but if it kills your GPU or something, are you OK with that? Hopefully you are still within return window, and return it for something better, like the GQ or G5.

Thanks for the info. I definitely will be returning the 850GA. There to seem to be quite a number of complaints about the G5 as well and EVGA as a ps vendor. I think I'll look elsewhere.

Figured it out. GAs don't like big GPUs. Stick with the GQ or G5.
