These are listed as <92 cri on the Sylvania site. CEC is above 90 always. They use 8.5w for 800 lumens so 15% less energy than this unregulated GE bulb. Spinning that as insignificant is odd. Better quality light, AND 15% less energy is good.
Cost is $1.60, which is only going to come down now that these are mandated in new projects and CA stores. Still historically VERY cheap for an efficient, high CRI, long lasting, and dimmable light source.
LED bulbs typically have very poor color rendition (cri from 0 crappy to 100 perfect). Most under 90 cri, so colors look terrible and inaccurate. If you're an interior designer, matching paint, checking makeup, painting, etc, it'll cause you color anxiety to no end.
...
You can find very high cri led bulbs, but there's goes all your savings from lower energy use....

A led bulb is prone to fail if you use them in closed fixtures. If you use them in something that the base of the bulb is on the bottom they will last longer. You would think the 10 watts they use would not produce enough heat to bother them, but you would be wrong.. More care should be used in choosing where they are going to be used. Bottom down and not in a inclosed fixture is the best for LED. CFL (if you still have them) are not nearly as finicky.. Incandecent (I bought a closet full of 100w incandecents before CFL days) are still the best for some legacy fixtures where you you cant get enough cooling ...
If you want to take advantage of the efficentcy of LED lights, buy a LED fixture (lights built in to the fixture), rather than trying to make a LED work in the old legacy fixtures IMHO... A table lamp is perfectly fine for a LED, but the basement cealing lights that bulbs screw in upside down seem to fail faster in my observations.. The heat needs to be dissapated away from the base. It is not that the LEDs fail it is the power supplys in the base of the bulb that fails. They over heat and that kills the power supply.
What determines if an item at Walmart goes on clearance, at every store in my city almost every item on brickseek has been regular price but if I go to the surrounding Walmarts outside of the city about 10 miles away in every direction I have found every item posted on Brickseek for the stated price what gives.

These are listed as
Those are basic Sylvania light bulbs.
Consumer grade.
Hardly anything to get excited about.
The CEC only did 3 things in general.
1. Lower the standby power usage to a set standard.
2. Increase lumens per watt.
3. Toe the very basic ANSI standard for led light bulb consistency. (https://www.docs.colork
The very broad 4-point quadrangle range these bulbs can sit in means they can vary quite a bit in color temperature alone from bulb to bulb.
Simply, it allows a 7-step variation whereas 2, step or below is necessary for imperceptible color temperature variation between bulbs.
These Sylvania bulbs aren't going to do any graphic designer / photographer / etc any good.
Instead, you'll need a true High cri light bulb.
92 for the sylvania is not high (any Asian would tell you that's an A-, not an A, not even an A+). Not even the Cree 90 cri at home depot for the longest time qualifies.
Typically, you'd need cri 97+ such as these cri 99 led bulbs to get beautiful color rendition in homes under led bulbs.

Basically you don't want to put them in enclosed light fixtures that don't have ventilation. Well I mean it's fine to do it just shortens the lifespan of the bulb.
